Mrs. Bolden was retired from the Vicksburg Warren School District. She was a member of Greater Grove Street M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Eric D. Wright; a daughter, Bernetta W. Hudson; two brothers, Samuel M. Luckett and John Earl Kelly; one sister, Dorothy Briscoe; her mother, Ora Lee Kelly; and her father, Riley Porter.

Survivors include two sons, Terry L. Wright of Atlanta and Louis F. Wright of Vicksburg; two daughters, Wilma Wright Blunt of Hampton, Va., and Jenene W. Boyd of Vicksburg; three brothers, Lewis C. Davis, James Kelly and David Lee Kelly, all of Vicksburg; two sisters, Barbara Mae Perryman of Detroit and Deloris Carr of Charlotte, N.C.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Genevieve Clements.

UTICA – Genevieve Clements died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Pleasant Hills Community Center in Jackson. She was 87.

A homemaker, Mrs. Clements lived most of her life in Utica. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Clements; and a grandchild, Ashlie Rodie.

She is survived by her son, Ernest Clements of Utica; four daughters, Mellany Kitchens of Sante Fe, N.M., Peggy Bickel of Utica, Faye Arthur of Prattville, Ala., and Glenda Brown of Hagerstown, Md.; and a brother, Johnnie Fortner of Yokena.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica with the Rev. Brad Herzog officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Hinds County.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Robert Earl Goseberry.

Robert Earl Goseberry died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at his home. He was 56.

Mr. Goseberry was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Brown Sr. and Lucille Stansberry; three brothers, James Stansberry, Eddie Brown Jr. and Eugene Brown; and one sister, Cellie Stansberry.

Survivors include two brothers, Luster Brown of Fort Worth, Texas, and Charles Brown of Edwards; one sister, Inetta Goseberry of Edwards; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Arcilnet Henderson of Edwards.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Ronnie L. Houston.

Ronnie L. Houston died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 46.

Mr. Houston was a member of Gospel Temple M.B. Church. He was a machine operator for DirtWorks Company.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Carter; his mother, Deloris Wright; and a brother, Jessie Wells.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Mae Houston of Vicksburg; two daughters, Latricia Brown and Kimberly Bell, both of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Roxie Williams of Vicksburg; two stepsons, Antonio Calvin and Elijah Wilson Jr., both of Vicksburg; seven sisters, Mattie Daniel of Chicago and Louella Norford, Doris Boyd, Betty Smith, Joann Martin, Ethel Carter Carson and Willie Jean Jenkins, all of Vicksburg; eight brothers, Carl Houston and Joe Howard, both of Vicksburg, Willie Carter Jr. and Floyd Howard, both of Detroit, Robel Howard and Shelby Lee Howard, both of New Orleans, Claude Witfield of Baton Rouge and McKinley Turner of Valparaiso, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lois Ellen Boykin Hunter.

RIDGELAND – Services for Lois Ellen Boykin Hunter were Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral in Jackson under the direction of Mark Seepe Funeral Directors and Crematorium of Jackson.

Mrs. Hunter died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was 84.

A Mississippi native, she was the daughter of George &#8220Bub” and Isabel Shrader Boykin. She was a longtime resident of Rolling Fork, where she was employed as city clerk.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. &#8220Billy” Hunter.

She is survived by three daughters, Beebe Hunter of Atlanta, Rae Nell Hunter of Jackson and Amanda Dust of Clinton; three sisters, Sammye Boden of Gautier, Loryce Hathcock of Pascagoula and Celeste Paraskevas of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and caregivers, Dorothy Armon and Lucille White.

Joseph Xavier McCormack.

COSTA MESA, Calif. – Joseph Xavier McCormack died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006. He was 82.

A native of Vicksburg, Mr. McCormack was a veteran of the Marine Corps and served in the Pacific in World War II. He retired from the Marine Corps after serving 25 years as a comptroller for MCAS in El Toro, Calif., and Camp LeJeune, N.C.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Costa Mesa, Calif., for 25 years, serving as an usher and greeter.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Jean McCormack; three brothers, John McCormack, Patrick McCormack and Charles McCormack; and two sisters, Ann Barnes and Betty Brown.

He is survived by two sons, Mitch McCormack of Mebane, N.C., and Gary McCormack of Albertville, Minn.; one daughter, Kelly Small of San Clemente, Calif.; two sisters, Catherine Goodrum of Newport Beach, Calif., and Joan Trahan of Vicksburg; eight grandsons; and nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was Nov. 8 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Military services followed at Harbor Lawn-Mount Olive Memorial Park in Costa Mesa.

Brenda Ann McGee.

SPRINGTOWN, Texas – Brenda Ann McGee, 65, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, in Baltimore, Md.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at White’s Funeral Home in Springtown, Texas. Burial will follow at Springtown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Brenda was born July 3, 1941, in Springtown, the daughter of Harrison W. and Lona Platt Montgomery. She grew up in Springtown and lived in Fort Worth most of her adult life. She also lived in Vicksburg for a number of years.

Brenda survived polio to become a homemaker and a wonderful mother to her five children. She is loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Vivian and Joel Montgomery.

Brenda is survived by son, Danny McGee and wife, Lisa, of Aberdeen, Md.; daughters, Tammie Norwood and husband, Thomas, and Loretta Powell and husband, Bernard, all of Vicksburg, and Kelli Holland and Tracey McGee, both of Tulsa, Okla; grandchildren, Daniel, Mark and Deborah Norwood, Melody Smith, Joshua Shoemaker, Viktorya and Jacob McGee, Caleb McGee and Isaiah Reynosa; sister, Pauline Layne; and brother, Carol B. Montgomery.

Emma Lee Koury Najour.

Emma Lee Koury Najour died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at her home. She was 87.

Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Najour was the daughter of the late Alex Koury and Katherine Petrou Koury. In 1950, she and her late husband, Fred M. Najour, opened Frederick’s Shoe Store in downtown Vicksburg.

Mrs. Najour was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church and the Cedars Ladies Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Norma Najour Massey of Vicksburg; two granddaughters, Kelley K. Massey and Stacey Massey-Eargle, both of Vicksburg; one grandson, Remy Massey of Vicksburg; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Christian Eargle and Koury Elizabeth Eargle; two sisters, Pauline K. Nasif and Dolores K. Nosser, both of Vicksburg; one brother, Ellis Koury of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. John Morris and the Very Rev. John Ogan officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the church Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Remy Massey, Albert Joseph &#8220Dobie” Nosser, Ellis Glenn Koury, Wayne Thornton, Jim Gragg, Ben Shaw, Joshua Christian Eargle, John Paul Eargle, David Hosemann, Tim Bennett and George Gerard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard E. Massey, Bobby Doyle, Robert Edward Abraham, Patrick Turner, Marie Dooling and Leigh Ann Nosser.

The Najour family, having been active in community and civic life in Vicksburg for more than 60 years, would like to thank the numerous friends, family and customers for their love and concern down through the years.

Nemiah Thompson Sr.

PORT GIBSON – Nemiah Thompson Sr. died Saturday Nov. 18, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 92.

Mr. Thompson attended Jefferson County Schools and Alcorn College. He served in the Army, worked at Port Gibson Veneer Company for a number of years and retired from Southwest Electric Power Association.

He was a former member of Jessimine Ridge Baptist Church in Jefferson County, where he served on the deacon board and as president of the choir. He was a member of Greater St. Mark M.B. Church in Port Gibson, serving as president of the deacon board. He was also president of the Claiborne and Jefferson County Singing Convention for 25 years and treasurer of the Claiborne County Baptist Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Regina Thompson; eight brothers; one sister; and a grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Cornelies Jones Thompson of Port Gibson; two daughters, Kathleen Thompson of Port Gibson and Erika King of Vicksburg; two sons, Nemiah Thompson Jr. of Detroit and John Thompson of Natchez; two grandsons; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives, including Stella Gibson, Janice King and Dorothy Dotson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at New Greater St. Mark M.B. Church with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating. Burial will be at the Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayette.

Visitation will be Thursday from 1 until 6 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the service.
