About 65 members of the Milestone Clubhouse at Warren Yazoo Mental Health Services will enjoy a special Thanksgiving this year through the generosity of an NFL player and his wife.

Denver Broncos defensive tackle Michael Myers and Brandy Myers have paid for a feast to be catered today for the members of the Clubhouse.

&#8220We have been wanting to do some community service and had been praying about it, and the Clubhouse seemed like the perfect place because it helps so many people have an outlet for support,” said Brandy Myers, who was in Vicksburg Tuesday afternoon to decorate for the meal.

The Clubhouse is a rehabilitation program for mentally ill people that assists them in avoiding isolation, said director Deborah Patrick.

The members, ranging in age from 18 to 65, meet regularly for activities and fellowship.

&#8220We usually provide a Thanksgiving meal each year, but this one is being catered with all the extras,” Patrick said.

Myers, an Alabama native, said she and her husband planned to do more community service in Vicksburg because it’s her husband’s hometown.

Michael Myers graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1994 and went on to play for the University of Alabama, where he met Brandy.

The two married in 1998 when he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. He was traded to Denver two years ago, but the couple still lives in Dallas with their two children, Mykayla, 6, and Braxton, 2.

&#8220It’s important for our children to understand the importance of giving back and sharing. That’s why we’re doing this,” Brandy Myers said.

She was spending the afternoon decorating the tables with tablecloths and fresh flower centerpieces.

&#8220I wanted it to feel homey,” she said.

Don Brown, Warren County director for WYMHS, said the organization is grateful for shared blessings this time of year.

&#8220We are very appreciative to Michael and Brandy for considering us and doing something good for our consumers,” he said.

And as for her own Thanksgiving plans, Myers and her children will be staying at her in-laws’ house in Vicksburg until Thursday afternoon, when she’ll head back to Dallas to watch her husband’s team play the Kansas City Chiefs that night on television.

&#8220He doesn’t usually play on Thanksgiving, but this year he is, so that’s where I’ll be,” she said.
