Rose Julia Breitenbach.

ESCANABA, Mich. – Rose Julia Breitenbach died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at her home. She was 93.

Mrs. Breitenbach was born in Utica to the late Isiah and Alma Mobley. She was a graduate of Utica High School, University of Alabama and University of Southern Mississippi. She taught English for eight years in Mississippi and 21 years in Michigan. In addition to teaching, she served as an instructor for aircraft mechanics on B-24S and performed pre-flight checks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Ted Breitenbach of Escanaba, Mich.; a son, Jerry Breitenbach of Escanaba; a sister, Alice &#8220Brownie” Moss of Jackson; and other relatives.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Home in Escanaba with the Rev. Rayford Ray officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Utica Cemetery.

The family will be present at the funeral home from 4 until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Salvation Army of Escanaba.

Johnny J. Cantin.

Johnny J. Cantin died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, at his home. He was 53.

Born in Greenville, Mr. Cantin had been a resident of Vicksburg most of his life. He was a former employee of Vicksburg Coca-Cola Bottling Company and Bell’s Ice Company. He was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Aubrey Cantin and Mary Louise Mascagni Cantin.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Cantin of Vicksburg; a daughter, Kellie Hunter of Vicksburg; three sons, Joseph Cantin and Michael Cantin, both of Vicksburg, and Bobby Hunter of Hermanville; two sisters, Frankie Herrod of Vicksburg and Margaret Dennis of Delta; four brothers, George Michael Cantin of Pensacola, Fla., Tommy Cantin of Delta, Sammy Cantin of San Mateo, Calif., and Carl Cantin of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren,; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Green Acres Cemetery with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Riles Funeral Home.

Myron Russell Fancher.

GREENWOOD – Myron Russell Fancher died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. He was 53.

A lifelong resident of Greenwood, Mr. Fancher was the son of Graham Diggs and Mary Estelle Strub Fancher. He was a longtime employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and attended St. John’s United Methodist Church in Greenwood.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Rusco Fancher of Greenwood; one daughter, Mariclaire Fancher of Greenwood; two sons, Michael Fancher of Greenwood and Andy Lamont Fancher of Madison; a brother, Don Fancher of Carrollton; and one grandson.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood with the Rev. Warren Colle officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to any cancer research charity.

Rev. Daniel Myles Jr.

BATON ROUGE – The Rev. Daniel Myles Jr. died Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at Lane Memorial Hospital in Baton Rouge. He was 92.

Rev. Myles was born in Woodville and had lived in Baton Rouge for a number of years. A retired minister, he was a member of Winan Chapel Methodist Church in Centreville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Daniel Myles Sr. and Josephine Myles; two sons, Richard Myles and Elijah Myles; two sisters, Idella Myles Mars and Roxie Myles Williams; and two brothers, James Myles and Henry Myles.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Myles of Baton Rouge; five daughters, Aldreama Myles Foster of Houston, Texas, and Estelle Myles Howard, Georgia Myles Chambers, Brenda Myles and Glosria Myles Recasner, all of Baton Rouge; five sons, Robert &#8220Mack” Myles of New Orleans, Odell Myles of Longview, Texas, Ralph Myles of Houston, John Myles Jackson of Kenner, La., and Willie Joseph Myles of Baton Rouge; one sister, Rosie Lee Myles Shields of Vicksburg; 33 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Winan Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Willie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at Winnfield Funeral Home, 7221 Plank Road in Baton Rouge, 225-357-2675, and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service.

Johnnie Shepard.

Johnnie Shepard died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at his home. He was 76.

Mr. Shepard was born in St. Joseph. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Robinson McFadden Shepard; his parents, Cardale and Louise Shepard; and two sisters, Francis Shepard Van Hook and Irene Shepard Morris.

He is survived by two daughters, Denise Stewart of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Debra Madlock of Bowie, Md.; one brother, Greene Shepard of Santa Costa, Calif.; and one sister, Magnolia Shepard Wiley of St. Louis, Mo.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Michael Dewayne Simpson.

Michael Dewayne &#8220Miguel” Simpson died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, at his home. He was 34.

Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Simpson Jr. of Lake Providence.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Dyanna and Mack Jenkins of Vicksburg; four sisters, Montic Washington, Dorothy Jenkins and Maxine Simpson, all of Vicksburg, and Belinda Glasper of Marietta, Ga.; two brothers, Mack Simpson of Vicksburg and Johnnie Simpson III of Lake Providence; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Brelyn Gross, Marcus Harvey, Victor Gilliam and Althea Moffett, all of Vicksburg.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Betty Ewing Woods.

Betty Ewing Woods, age 66, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Chan Osborn de Anaya officiating. Burial will follow at Golden Link Cemetery in Anguilla.

Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 tonight at the church.

Mrs. Woods was born in Anguilla on April 30, 1940. She graduated from Anguilla High School and Mississippi State College for Women with honors. She was a dedicated teacher, having taught more than 35 years at Cooper High School, Warren Central and All Saints’ Episcopal School in Vicksburg. Her life was full of giving to others, so &#8220volunteering” was one of her favorite jobs.

Betty is survived by her mother, Libber Ewing of Anguilla; two sons, Charles Bradford Woods and wife, Carol, of Bentonville, Ark., and Richard Ewing Woods of Shaw, Miss.; her brother, Tommy Ewing of Anguilla; and two granddaughters, Lauren Ashley Woods and Bailey Anne Woods of Bentonville.

Pallbearers will be Jay Madison, Bill Landes, Paul Naya, Justin Ewing, David Ewing and Michael Dollar.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Christ Episcopal Church.

Betty will always be remembered for her love for the church where she has been so active over the years. The family has requested that all gifts and memorials be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 1115 Main St., Vicksburg, MS instead of flowers.
