Samantha Smith turned Tuesday’s game against St. Aloysius into a soccer version of H-O-R-S-E. Off the goalie, off the post, off the crossbar, nothing but net.

Smith used all three props to score a pair of goals for Terry (2-4), leading it to a 3-1 victory over home-standing St. Al (1-1-4). Brianne Barr also scored a goal for Terry, while Emily Leverett and Heather Bell each had an assist.

Taylor George scored St. Al’s only goal and Robin Cooper made 10 saves. St. Al managed nine shots on goal, but couldn’t put together more than a few modest runs at the net.

&#8220We can’t finish,” St. Al coach Karen Carroll said. &#8220That’s been our demise the last three games.”

The teams played a dull, defensive game between the goal boxes for the first 25 minutes, then combined for three goals in the next nine.

Barr beat Cooper from the left side to give Terry a 1-0 lead, then George ripped a blast high into the left side of the net to even it up five minutes later. At the 34-minute mark of the first half, however, Smith put Terry ahead for good. She launched a shot toward Cooper from 30 yards out. Cooper stopped the shot, but it bounced off her hands, then off the goal post and into the goal for a 2-1 lead.

Smith added an insurance goal with 11 1/2 minutes left in the game. She took a centering pass from Leverett at the top of the goal box, then banged a shot off the underside of the crossbar to make it 3-1. Neither team seriously threatened after that.
