Curtis Anderson Sr.
Curtis Anderson Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 55.
Born in Warren County, Mr. Anderson was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Soloman Sims and Mary Ella Jackson; his paternal grandparents, Jessie Anderson and Amanda Eatmon; and one sister, Gloria Anderson.
He is survived by four sons, Curtis Anderson Jr. and Michael Ford, both of Minneapolis, Jason Grant of Vicksburg and Shawn D. Anderson of California; one daughter, Angela Harris of Vicksburg; his parents, Ernest Sr. and Augusta Sims Anderson of Vicksburg; seven brothers, Michael Anderson, Larry Anderson, Jessie McCoy and Eddie McCoy, all of Vicksburg, Tommie Anderson of Houston, Texas, Ernest Anderson Jr. of Winnfield, La., and Willie Anderson of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Emma Judge and Brelyn Gross, both of Vicksburg; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Willie L. Johnson Sr.
Willie L. Johnson Sr. died Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 90.
Mr. Johnson was a member of Travis Chapel A.M.E. Church. He retired as a head cook with the Corps of Engineers’ Mat Sinking Unit.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Davis; and his wife, Eddie Lee Johnson.
Survivors include his daughter, Lela Johnson of Vicksburg; two sons, Michael Johnson Sr. and Willie Lee Johnson Jr., both of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Lawrence Ray Jones Sr.
Lawrence Ray Jones Sr. died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 69.
Born in Carlisle, Miss., Mr. Jones lived for a number of years in Illinois and Wisconsin. He was a retired foreman for N.W. Moulding Products of Racine, Wis.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Jones of Vicksburg; two sons, Lawrence Ray Jones Jr. of Vicksburg and Thomas Jones of Racine; two brothers, Raymond Jones of Beckley, W.Va., and Gary Jones of Carlisle; one sister, Gloria Ann Myers of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Whitehall Cemetery in Claiborne County. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be William Boggan, Raymond Lee Jones, Jack W. Hodges, Jeffery Dewayne Harris, James R. Bowman and Martin Gonzalas.
Robert Lowery.
Robert “Paps” Lowery died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at his home. He was 56.
Born in Eudora, Ark., Mr. Lowery had been a Vicksburg resident most of his life. He was the son of the late Elmer Lowery Sr. and Margarett Pellegal.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army. He was a retired deckhand, having worked for a number of towing companies.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Big Bob” Lowery II; and a sister, Shirley Ann Lowery.
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Lowery of Vicksburg; one daughter, Shirley Lowery of Vicksburg; two sons, Joseph Lee Lowery of Vicksburg and Justin Lowery of Batesville; two sisters, Candie Lowery of Kentucky and Betty Rodriguez of Napa, Calif.; four brothers, Elmer Lowery Jr. of Kentucky, William Lowery of Vicksburg, Richard Lowery of Augusta, S.C., and Ronnie Lowery of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren; and other relatives, including Billy Hall Jr., Deboria Claiborne, LaTannia Miller and Carolyn Andrews, all of Vicksburg.
Memorial services will be at a later date under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Marie Maranto Webb.
ANGUILLA – Marie Maranto Webb died Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. She was 88.
A homemaker, Mrs. Webb was a lifelong resident of Anguilla. She was a member of Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Anguilla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rosa Lee Maranto.
She is survived by one son, Charles Webb and his wife, Effie, of Greenville; one daughter, Gail Fraiser and her husband, Russ, of Madison; a brother, Charles Maranto of Anguilla; three sisters, Connie Ludwig and Lena Maranto, both of Anguilla, and Sara Stuart of Texas; four grandchildren; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Pallbearers will be Mark Haley, John Fraiser, Clark Secoy, William P. Maranto, Mike Maranto and Donald Durst.
