Wessie Lee Browman.
Wessie Lee Browman died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at her home in Idaho. She was 84.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Browman, and 11 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Browman was born in Louisiana and lived most of her life in Vicksburg. She was an All-State Champion in both softball and basketball.
She moved to Blackfoot, Idaho, after her husband’s death in 2000. After moving, she joined Emanuel Lutheran Church. She and her husband helped build several Lutheran churches throughout the United States as members of the Lutheran Laborer’s of Love.
She is survived by her son, David J. Browman of Brandon; her daughter, Deborah Outman of Blackfoot; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at her church in Blackfoot.

Linda Allen Smith.
Linda Allen Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, in Ridgeland. She was 76.
A native of Yazoo County, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie G. and Rena Walden Allen.
She is survived by two daughters, Rita Barlow of Cookeville, Tenn., and Rhonda Crowder of Vicksburg; four sons, Nathan Smith, Jason Smith and Jeff Smith, all of Vicksburg, and Max Smith of Yazoo City; a sister, Carolyn Allen of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Wayne and Richard Allen of Yazoo City, and Gerald Allen of Jackson; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Green Acres Cemetery with the Rev. Pet Pearson officiating. Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Brenda Joyce Townsend.
Brenda Joyce Townsend died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, in Baytown, Texas. She was 59.
A Vicksburg native, Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her husband, Pink E. Townsend Sr.; her parents, Leon and Corrine Carr; a brother, Clifton Carr; and a grandson, Clifton Terrell Carr.
She is survived by two sons, Ronnie D. Carr of Charlotte, N.C., and Pink E. Townsend Jr. of Houston, Texas; four daughters, Sonya A. Carr and Dana N. Northern of Crosby, Texas, and Jamita R. Townsend-Harper and Richelle Townsend of Olive Branch; three brothers, Leon Carr Jr. and George Carr of Vicksburg, and Dale Carr of Hazelhurst; six sisters, Gloria Taylor of Atlanta, Shirley Green of Plainsville, N.J., and Deloris Sims, Jacquelin Latham, Eleanor Coleman and Gail Martin of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul M.B. Church in Bovina with Pastor Tyrone Dixon Sr. officiating. Visitation will be at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home from noon to 6 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday. Burial will follow at the St. Paul Cemetery. A repast will be at that Bovina Community Center following the burial.
Van Leaborn Wilson Sr.
Van Leaborn Wilson Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 64.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lois Wilson.
He is survived by his daughter, Deloris Evans, and husband, Rett, of Vicksburg; a son, Van Leaborn Wilson Jr. of West Memphis, Ark.; and four grandchildren, Jordan and Drake Dorbeck of Vicksburg and Alex and Megan Wilson of Marion, Ark.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Pierce and all of the caregivers from River Region, Promise Specialty Hospital, Patients Choice Hospice, Covenant Health and Rehab and all of his neighbors and friends that helped out during his illness.
