Mattie Lee Squalls Brewster.
Services for Mattie Lee Squalls Brewster will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home with the Rev. Alfred Lassiter Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brewster died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at Claiborne County Nursing Center in Port Gibson. She was 100.
Mrs. Brewster was a member of China Grove M.B. Church in Edwards, where she was a former usher and served as treasury secretary. She was also a member of Vicksburg Chapter No. 1 of Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Brewster; and a brother, Richard McCoy.
She is survived by a son, Orel Aaron Anderson Sr. of Chicago; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including the Anderson, Brewster, Fields, McCoy, Miles, Squalls and Strong families.
Myra M. Few.
Myra M. Few died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006. She was 97.
A native of Eupora, Mrs. Few lived most of her life in Vicksburg.
She is survived by William Few and Marjorie F. White, both of Vicksburg, and Linda White of Baton Rouge.
Services were Monday at Eupora Cemetery. Burial followed under the direction of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.

Mary Catherine Bland Harper.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Services for Mary Catherine Bland Harper will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Springhill M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harper died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, in Kalamazoo, Mich. She was 62.
Mrs. Harper was born in Utica to Percy and Roseanne Bland. She attended high school in Vicksburg and received a degree in business from Alcorn State University. She received a master’s degree in counseling from Western Michigan University and worked in the Kalamazoo Public Schools for more than 35 years. She also worked as a travel agent after her retirement.
Mrs. Harper was a member of a number of organizations, including the Kalamazoo Public Schools Teachers Bowling League, Dulcet, Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and the National Association for Black School Educators.
She was a former member of Northside Community Reformed Church and attended Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Kalamazoo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Bland and Herman Bland.
Survivors include her husband, Hank Harper; a daughter, Wyndi Harper-Williams; a son, Marque Harper; one sister, Alean Burse; seven brothers, Willie Bland, Robert Bland, John Bland, James Bland, Percy Bland, Fred Bland and Gerald Bland; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Ida Nixon.
Services for Ida “Momma Ida” Nixon will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Standfield New Life Christian Church with the Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of service at the church.
Mrs. Nixon died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg. She was 101.
Mrs. Nixon was born in Hinds County to the late Henry and Betty Smith. She was a member of Standfield New Life Christian Church, where she was a former member of the mother’s board.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Isiah Brown Sr. and D.L. Thomas Sr.; two brothers, four sisters and a grandson.
She is survived by a daughter, Annie Gibson of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; 55 great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild and other relatives, including Betty Brown of Vicksburg and the Thomas, Brown, Gibson, Banks, Morris, Drayton, Tolliver, Cox, Powell and Cruthirds families.
Mary E. Martin Watson.
BELZONI – Services for Mary E. Martin Watson were Thursday evening at First Presbyterian Church in Belzoni with the Rev. Richard Wiman officiating. Burial followed at Belzoni Cemetery under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Watson died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at her home in Belzoni. She was 82.
Mrs. Watson was born to the late H.L. and Lillian Smith Martin. She was a graduate of Belzoni High School and attended Belhaven College. She worked as a cooperative extension secretary for the County Agricultural Agent in Humphreys County, Miss. for more than 40 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Belzoni.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Watson.
She is survived by a sister, Gwen Martin Bingham; and other relatives, including Rex Bingham, Mary Hall, Lindsay Hall and Jay Martin Hall, all of Vicksburg.
