Hattie Carroll.

PORT GIBSON – Hattie Carroll died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at Claiborne County Nursing Center. She was 94.

Mrs. Carroll was a member and mother of Providence Christian Church in Pattison. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Baptist Aid and Christian Aid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Emma Shelton-Wells; her husband, Ernest Carroll; and a brother, Alphonso Wells.

She is survived by a brother, Julius Wells of Vicksburg; a sister, Mary Lou Wells-Amos of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Providence Christian Church with the Rev. Freddie Harris officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Sunday at the church from noon until the service.

Edgar Pringle Martz.

CARY – Edgar Pringle Martz died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 82.

Mr. Martz was born in Ardara, Pa. A veteran of World War II, he was a chef and taught culinary arts. He was also a former employee of General Motors.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Martz of Cary; a son, Jody Martz of Jeanette, Pa.; two daughters, Amy George of Cary and Susan Woodhall of Swissville, Pa.; three sisters, Meredith Watson and Lois Brown, both of Ardara, and Donna Rylander of Jeanette; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be announced under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Bobby D. Sones.

PURVIS – Bobby D. Sones died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at his home in Purvis. He was 78.

Mr. Sones was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired electronics business owner, having operated businesses in Vicksburg and Natchez. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Eddie Lee Sones; his twin sister, June Layfield; one brother, K.G. Sones; and his grandparents, Ed and Edna Brantley and Ben and Carolyn Thompson Sones.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Sones of Purvis; one son, Bobby Steve Sones of Port Gibson; three daughters, Kathy Gamble and Susan Kemp, both of Hattiesburg, and Roxanne Wilson of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Doris Brackin of Orlando, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jones & Son Funeral Home in Hattiesburg with the Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Roseland Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Sunday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Dr. James Wilson, Stanley Kemp, Tim Mealey, Johnny Rolls and Ed Crockett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Bombaugh and Jason Wilson.

Gaston Love Williams.

FLOWOOD – Gaston L. Williams, 75, went to be with our Lord Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at his home in Flowood. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial following in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Bryant Williams; daughters, Carolyn Duren and husband, Tommy, of Vicksburg and Nancy Williams of Olive Branch; brother, James Williams of Jackson; sister, Virginia Williams of St. Louis, Mo.; grandsons, Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew T. Duren currently serving in Djibouti, Africa, with the 5th Provisional Security Company and Stephen Duren of Vicksburg; and several nieces and nephews.
