Lonnie E. Bullock
TALLULAH – Lonnie E. Bullock died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at his home in Tallulah. He was 65.
Mr. Bullock was born in Okolona, Ark., and had lived in Tallulah most of his life. He was an automobile body repairman and owned a tree-trimming/removal service. He was a graduate of Oak Grove High School.
He was preceded in death by his father, John William Bullock; and a sister, Myrtis Morris.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bullock of Tallulah; his mother, Sadie Mae Day of Delta; three daughters, Tonya Helena Bullock and Velvet Jane Bullock, both of Vicksburg, and Bonnie Sue Holland of Tallulah; one son, Lonnie Bill Bullock of Kingsport, Tenn.; three brothers, George Wade Bullock of Madrid, Spain, Clois Ray Bullock of Delta and Bill Bullock Jr. of Oak Grove; three sisters, Brenda Lynn of Vicksburg, Eunice Bolding of Oak Grove and Linda Sue Bullock of Holt, Fla.; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. Marshal Sevier officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. Thursday until the service.
Pallbearers will be Logan Bullock, Tyler Bullock, Zachary French, Brian Holland, Bruce Dorbeck and Don Walker.
Honorary pallbearer will be Kenneth Redd.
Bertha Carson
Services for Bertha Carson will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Carson died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81.
Mrs. Carson was a homemaker and member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Carson; her son, Joseph Harvey; one sister, Lula Mae Davis; and her parents, Charles and Mentha Martin Kelly.
Survivors include two brothers, William Kelly and Charles David Kelly, both of Chicago; one sister, Agnes Thomas of Vicksburg; one grandson; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
De’Arrius Devaughn Christopher Herrington
Services for De’Arrius Devaughn Christopher Herrington, infant son of KaTwalla Anderson of Vicksburg and Derrick Herrington of Port Gibson, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Reginald Walker officiating.
Williams Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Infant Herrington died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Eugene Anderson, Laura Anderson and Tommie Dotson.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Andrea Williams, both of Port Gibson, and Eric Herrington of Texas; maternal grandparents, Wynona Anderson and Curtis Anderson, both of Vicksburg; maternal great-grandmother, Jeanette Dotson of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Crystal Martin and Wanda Odom of Vicksburg.
James Richard Leese
James Richard Leese died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 71.
Mr. Leese was born in Vicksburg on Jan. 25, 1935, to John and Belle Leese. Upon graduating from Carr Central High School, he began a career with the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1974 after 20 years of service.
He was self-employed and then began work at GNB, retiring in 1997 after 21 years of service. He was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ulmer Leese; and a daughter, Shirley Denise Wavrin.
Survivors include one son, John R. (Ginger) Leese of Vicksburg; two daughters, Dorothy J. (Jerry) Rushing of Vicksburg and Ann M. (David) Lewis of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Grady W. (Martha) Leese of Vicksburg; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tom Young, Fred Shirley, Rickey Cockrell, Clyde Posey Jr., Steve English and Tommy Carpenter.
Honorary pallbearer will be Yoshinobu Namihira, MD FACG.

Giovanni Crystian Moore
Sterling Jerrod Ellis Moore
PORT GIBSON – Giovanni Crystian Moore, 17, and his brother, Sterling Jerrod Ellis Moore, 16, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, as the result of an automobile accident in Port Gibson.
They were preceded in death by their mother, Clara Jean Moore; paternal grandparents, Richard and Susie Moore; and maternal grandfather, Riley Ellis Sr.
They are survived by their father, Riley Ellis Jr. of Hermanville; paternal grandmother, Elizia Marbra of Hermanville; a step-great-grandmother, Florence Crystian of Port Gibson; and other relatives, including the Jones, Reeder, Turner, Ward, Ellis, Jackson, McGee, McKay and Moore families.
Services for both will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Port Gibson High School gymnasium with the Rev. Joseph Brown of Springhill M.B. Church officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
