Harry A. Jacobson
Harry A. Jacobson died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007. He was 63.
Born in Waynesboro, Pa., Mr. Jacobson was a former resident of Mobile, Ala., and Brownsville, Texas, before returning to Vicksburg in 2000.
He was a graduate of H.V. Cooper High School and Hinds Community College. Having served in the Mississippi National Guard and Air National Guard, he worked as a corporate pilot for International Paper Company and Justice-Mears Petroleum Company. He was a former member of the 4-H Club and member of the Episcopal faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Jacobson.
He is survived by two daughters, Stacy Speas of Natchez and Leigh Jacobson of Seattle; and his father, Richard Jacobson of Vicksburg; a brother, Ronald K. Jacobson of Vicksburg; two sisters, Miriam Emerson of Vicksburg and Sandra Cooper of Gulfport.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chan Osborn de Anaya officiating. Burial will follow at Yokena Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon Thursday until the hour of service.
Pallbearers will be David Emerson, Kevin Emerson, James Smith, Jesse Jacobson, Gary Dill and James Jones.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Zachary Lee Koestler
PEARL – Zachary Lee Koestler died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at his home in Pearl. He was 17.
Zachary was a lifelong resident of Rankin County. He was a junior at Jackson Prep, where he was a member of the football team. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson and its youth group.
Survivors include his parents, Naomi and Richard Lingle and Patrick and Mimi Koestler; a sister, Mary Ellen Lingle; four brothers, Ethan Manning Lingle, Craig Millett, Brad Millett and Michael Millett; his maternal grandparents, Alene and William Thornton; his paternal grandparents, Jimmie Lingle and the late Ed Lingle, Carolyn Koestler and Leo V. Koestler Jr.; his paternal great-grandmother, Lena Weaver; and aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Services were at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Jackson. Burial followed at Springfield Cemetery in Scott County under the direction of Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Brandon.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Jackson’s Youth Ministry.
William Henry Major
William Henry Major died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 76.
Mr. Major was of the Baptist faith. He was a security guard for Baker Security Services.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Major Sr. and Viola Major; three brothers, Leon Major, James T. Major and Jacob Major Jr.; and a sister, Gertrude Major Johnson.
He is survived by two brothers, Hugh Major of San Diego, Calif., and Sherry Major of Hazlehurst; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including members of the Major, Wildee, Taylor, Johnson and Winters families.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Milton Earl Moore Sr.
Services for Milton Earl Moore Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church on Poplar Street with the Rev. Darryl Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Williams Funeral Service and from 6 until 8 at Mount Nebo M.B. Church in Benton, Miss.
Mr. Moore died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at his home. He was 46.
A warehouse supervisor, Mr. Moore worked at Miskelly Furniture for 15 years. He was a member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church in Bentonia.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline L. Moore of Vicksburg; two sons, Alex Trey Curtis of Vicksburg and Milton E. Moore Jr. of Texas; his mother, Lillie I. Grayer of Bentonia; six sisters, Sharon Alexander, Verdell Montson, Elnora Robinson and Elinor Williams, all of Chicago, Charlean Grayer and Janie R. White of Bentonia; three brothers, Lonnie Alexander of Chicago, Edward Earl Winters of Canton and T.C. Moore of Bentonia; his grandmother, Willie Moore of Benton; and other relatives and friends.
Hattie Mae Berry Young
Hattie Mae Berry Young died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 100.
Mrs. Young was a member of King David No. 1 M.B. Church, where she had served as president of the Senior Choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Anna Berry; one brother, Bennie Berry; and two sisters, Gertrude Wynn and Ardella Weatherby.
She is survived by one nephew, Leroy Weatherby of Chicago; her caregiver, Gertrude Harris of Vicksburg; and great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.
