Shirlene Credille
Shirlene Credille died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 60.
Mrs. Credille was a native of New Orleans and had been a Vicksburg resident since 1971. She was the daughter of the late Noel and Laler Mae Mauldin Jackson. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy J. Dye and Pearlie P. Jackson.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Credille of Vicksburg; two sons, Jerry Edwin Bergeron of Hamburg, Ark., and Larry Joseph Credille of Vicksburg; one daughter, Marlaine Credille of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Noel Larry Jackson Sr., Fred Louis Jackson and Albert Ross Jackson, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Sarah Martha J. Watkins of Phoenix, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Hightower officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be George Stinespring, Roger Holdiness, Chris Lynn, Gary Vines, Ben Wade and Adrian Cookdy.
Clifton Leonard Harris
Clifton Leonard Harris died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at his home. He was 94.
A Vicksburg native, Mr. Harris attended private school. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II as a buck sergeant over the mess hall for five years.
He retired from Union Pacific Railroad with more than 30 years of service and owned Harris’ Barbecue House and Catering Service of Cheyenne, Wyo., for more than 50 years. He was a member of Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Colorado Jurisdiction and of Western Star Lodge No. 6 of Cheyenne. He was past patron of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mr. Harris was a member of Mount Pisgah M.B. Church, serving as senior deacon and choir president.
He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. George Wesley Harris; his mother, Elizabeth Marie Brown; 11 brothers; and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Harris of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including members of the Harris, Evans, McClendon, Williams, Donerson, Gaines and Burns families.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Marguerite Killian Malik
Marguerite Killian Malik died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 84.
Mrs. Malik was a longtime resident of Vicksburg. She was a retired nurse employed at the Vicksburg Hospital. She was a member of the Openwood Garden Club and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane Malik.
Survivors include her husband, Fred A. Malik Sr. of Vicksburg; one son, Fred A. “Tony” Malik Jr. and daughter-in-law, Laurie, of Vicksburg; two daughters, Roxanne M. (Joe) Gay of Vicksburg and Margaret Dicks of Murphy, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Patrick (Gillian) Young, Ryan (Jennifer) Gastley, Jeremiah Cotmer, Leanne (Brian) Pettway, Katie Malik, Lindsey Gay and Lauren Gay; and four great-grandchildren, Erin Young, Sam Young, Haley Young and Dalton Gastley.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Barlow, Brian Pettway, Paul Rohrer, Patrick Young, Ryan Gastley, William McCown, Chuck Williston and Bob Green.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dewey Purser, Dr. Frank McPherson, Joe Gerache, Leo Ingram, Bob Alvarado, Al Ford, Dr. Joseph Wilson and Dr. Henk Kuiper.

Rubye Lee Turner
SULPHUR, La. – Rubye Lee Turner, 66, died peacefully at 11:15 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at her home in Sulphur, La.
She had lived in Sulphur since 1974, coming from Groves, Texas. She was a professional artist and had worked as a nurse’s aide at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. She was a member of the National Wildlife Federation and a faithful supporter of NA.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Larry D. Turner of Sulphur; sons, Troy Turner and Trose Turner, both of Sulphur; daughter, DeAnna Turner of Sulphur; daughter-in-Law, Christy Turner of Sulphur; brothers, Brooks Barnes of Arkansas, Donald Barnes of Vicksburg and Mikel Barnes of Texas; sisters, Bobbie Williamson, Kitty Baker and Dalastine Wright, all of Vicksburg, Judy Berry of Arkansas and Maudine Wilhoit of Kansas; grandchildren, Darrell Wayne Turner and Logan Turner; and her dog, Candy Cane.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Frank Barnes and Billy Barnes; and sister, Mary Johnson.
The family would like to thank everyone involved with her care and assistance who made her life’s journey much easier.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 9 tonight and from 8 until 10 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Bethel Cemetery in Bethel, Texas. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.mem.com.
Mary Dunson Williams
Services for Mary Dunson Williams will be at noon Thursday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Mayfield Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Willis Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at her home. She was 87.
Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and member of Mount Zion M.B. Church at Eagle Lake, where she was a soloist and served on the Mother Board. She was a member of Mount Alban Union Society No. 21.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Williams Sr.; her parents, Walker and Zadie Jackson Dunson; a daughter, Rosie Asberry; and three brothers, James Dunson, J.C. Dunson and Nathaniel Dunson.
Survivors include four sons, James Williams and George Williams Jr., both of Oakland, Calif., Mack Williams of Vicksburg and Levi Williams of Eagle Lake; three daughters, Betty Asberry of San Pablo, Calif., Asyline Branch of Vicksburg and Mary Jackson of Eagle Lake; three sisters, Ruby Lacey and Doris Friar, both of Oakland, and Naomi Smith of Vicksburg; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
