David L. Finch
David L. Finch died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 76.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Finch was the son of the late Robert Willis and Regina Lofton Finch. He was a millwright with the Union Local No. 303 for 12 years. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Finch of Vicksburg; two sons, Willis N. Finch of Vicksburg and David Edward Finch of Hattiesburg; two brothers, Millard Finch of Tatum, Texas, and Lenard Williams of Prescott, Ariz.; one sister, Marion Uttley of Marshall, Texas; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Brumfield, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bill Blanton, Carey Clack, Roy Campbell, Jason Finch, Chuck Upchurch and Alan Berry.
Frances L. Gilchrist
Frances L. Gilchrist died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at her home. She was 101.
A homemaker, Mrs. Gilchrist was a member of Jackson Street M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Gilchrist Sr.; her parents, Alfred and Clara Brown; two sons, Martin Gilchrist Jr. and Charles Gilchrist; a daughter, Florida M. Anderson; five brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include seven daughters, Pearl Smith and Ophelia Brown, both of Vicksburg, Runna Dawson of Kansas City, Mo., Ruby Draper of Akron, Ohio, Clara Gilchrist of Cleveland, Ohio, Margie B. Gilchrist of Chicago and Cubie Smith of Bryan, Texas; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.
Willie E. Oliver
Willie E. Oliver died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 101.
Born in Warren County, she was the daughter of the late Hiram Ezekial Emfinger and Maggie Scott Emfinger.
Mrs. Oliver was a retired nurse, having been employed by the Vicksburg Infirmary, Vicksburg Hospital and for Dr. A.J. Messina. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Marion Oliver; one daughter, Faye O. Ellison; a sister, Martha Williams; and two brothers, James and Oscar Emfinger.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Shirley Ellison Tracy of Vicksburg; a grandson, Dave A. Ellison III and his wife, Marie, of Vicksburg; four great-grandchildren, Wren Tracy Hirschfeld and her husband, Aaron, and Terra Tracy, all of San Rafael, Calif., Rob Ellison and his wife, Brandy, of Clinton and Jeff Ellison of Vicksburg; and a son-in-law, Dave A. Ellison Jr. of Vicksburg.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Dr. John G. McCall, pastor emeritus of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Dave A. Ellison III, Rob Ellison, Jeff Ellison, Cody McKellar, Phillip Brown and James Hess.

William Ringo Sr.
JACKSON – William Ringo Sr. died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 54.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ada Ringo.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie Ringo of Jackson; two sons, Christopher Smith and Willie Ringo Jr., both of Jackson; three daughters, Lakeisha White McRunnels of Vicksburg, Angela R. Marshall of Jackson and Stephanie Hart of Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Elder Bertha Davenport and Mary Brown Bowman, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Henry Ringo and James Ringo, both of Vicksburg; and 14 grandchildren.
Westhaven Funeral Home in Jackson has charge of arrangements.
Wilma Tarver
TALLULAH – Services for Wilma “Dot” Tarver will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parkview Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Cletus Moak officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until 2 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Tarver died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at her home in Tallulah. She was 66.
A homemaker, Mrs. Tarver was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Williamson and Minnie Eakes; and a brother, Jim Earl Rash.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianna Kay Harvey of Tallulah; a son, Ricky Dean Mathews of Tallulah; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Bullock, David Lowery, Loyd Moore, Jim Tamburo, Jimmy Wright and Eddie Tennant.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clem Tullos, Justin Watts, Tony Harvey and Brian Rash.
Susie Worthy Ward
Susie Worthy Ward died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at her daughter’s home after a long illness. She was 87.
Born in Greenville, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Louis M. and Myrtle Reid Worthy. Mrs. Ward had made her home in Warren County for the past 71 years.
Mrs. Ward attended Culkin Academy and retired as an LPN with 22 years of service. She had worked for Kuhn Memorial Hospital, Mercy Hospital and the Sydney House Nursing Home. She was a member of Acacia Chapter No. 56 Eastern Star and Bradley’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ward is survived by a daughter, Peggy Lee Stokes and her husband, Billy; brother, Louis Worthy; two sisters, Betty Worthy and Mary Rose Phillips; two grandchildren, Penny Worley and R.H. Pierce; and great-grandchildren, Steven Worley, Chelsia Worley, Rex Pierce and Ashton Pierce, all of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. James Twiner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Ward’s nephews, Kelly Worthy, Glen Worthy, Johnny Phillips, Butch Phillips, Blackie Worthy and Terry Gill.
