Alice M. Markham
Alice M. Markham died Friday, March 16, 2007 at Heritage House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 81.
A Vicksburg native, Mrs. Markham a member of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertram R. Coffing and Mary Rodgers Coffing; a daughter, Tina Marie Markham; two sisters and a brother.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Wells and Sharon Brown, both of Huntsville, Ala.; a son, James Markham of Vicksburg, a brother, Rodgers Coffing of Vicksburg; two sisters, Daisy Walling and Peggy Cook, both of Texas, two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home with Rev. Macon Phillips officiating.

James Montgomery
MAGNOLIA, Texas – James Montgomery died Thursday, March 15, 2007. He was 77.
A retired welder and fitter, Mr. Montgomery was a native of Crowville, La., and had lived in Houston since 1954. He was a member of Living Way Pentecostal Church in Conroe, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Faye McDaniel Montgomery of Magnolia; a daughter, Kathy J. Jamison of Magnolia; a son, James Michael Montgomery of Magnolia; three sisters, Marie Williams of San Angelo, Texas, Betty Cardin of Monroe, La., and Evelyn Dawson of Lake Jackson, Texas; a brother, Louie Montgomery of The Woodlands, Texas; three grandchildren and one great-granchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. Michael Ensoy officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Cemetery in Newellton. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 this afternoon at the funeral home.
Willie Corley Thornton
UTICA – Willie Corley Thornton died Friday, March 16, 2007 at her home in Utica. She was 103.
Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her parents, James Thomas Corley and Lula Teasley Corley; her husband, Early J. Thornton; two sons, Rex Thornton and Early D. Thornton; a daughter-in-law Mona Louise Thornton; and a brother, Carey “Boy” Corley.
Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn Dowe and husband Jack E. Dowe Sr. of Utica; a son, James W. “Buddy” Thornton of Delhi, La.; two daughters-in-law, Fann Myer of Monroe and Margaret Johns of Arizona; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with the Rev. Don Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at Delhi Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
