Annie Bell Watkins Braxton
Annie Bell Watkins Braxton died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 89.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mount Zion M.B. Church No. 1 with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
A retired homemaker, Mrs. Braxton was a member of Mount Zion No. 1 M.B. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Loving Friendship No. 20.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Braxton.
Survivors include one son, Roosevelt Watkins of Vicksburg; five daughters, Annie Mae Dillard, Mary Lovette, Dorothy Earl, Mattie P. Hall and Lillie Macon, all of Vicksburg; four sisters, Georgia Mae Greer and Cora Robinson, both of Kosciusko, Maggie Kirkland of Sallis and Bessie Davis of Knoxville, Tenn.; 41 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including members of the Brown, Doyle, Washington and Truss families.
Jean Harrison
LAKE – Services for Jean Harrison will be today at 9 a.m. at Ott & Lee Chapel Funeral Home in Forest. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Baptist Cemetery.
Ms. Harrison died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at her home in Lake. She was 79.
A child caregiver, Ms. Harrison was a lifelong resident of Lake and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dora Weaver; a daughter, Barbara Ladner; and three grandchildren, Chad Collins, Parker Collins and David Collins.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Collins of Vicksburg, Shirley Culpepper of Florence and Betty Jo Eastman of Lake; a sister, Edythe Pace of Shreveport; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Jane M. James
WATERPROOF, La. – Services for Jane M. James, age 59, of Waterproof, La., will be at 3 today at Christ Episcopal Church with the Revs. Bob Cooper and Ned Webster officiating. Burial will follow at Whestly Chapel under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday, La.
Mrs. James was born March 21, 1948, in Ferriday and passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was a homemaker and member of Christ Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby James of Waterproof; two daughters, Amy Williamson and husband, Paul, of Griffin, Ga., and Beth Ann James of Baton Rouge, La.; her mother, Ellen Miller of Natchez; a sister, Cindy Gwin of Natchez; two brothers, John Miller of Terry and Bobby Miller of Natchez; three grandchildren, Jack Williamson, Caroline Williamson and Claire Williamson.
Pallbearers will be Harry Goldman III, Larry McManus, Lucien Gwin, Chris Jordan, William Coleman, Whit Butler, Lamar Barnett and Robert Routon.

Lillie Purnell
TALLULAH – Lillie Purnell died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center. She was 96.
Miss Purnell was born in Tallulah and had also lived in Houston. She served as a U.S. Army nurse during World War II.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Jean Foreman officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. today until the service.
