Johnnie Nosser
Johnnie Nosser died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at his residence. He was 84.
Born in Vicksburg, he was the son of the late Joseph Nosser and Helen Jacobs Nosser and a graduate of Carr Central High School. Serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, Mr. Nosser was in the 134th Infantry in the European Theatre. He was a prisoner of war and the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He was owner and manager of Johnny’s Restaurant and Drive- In for a number of years. Later, he was associated with Nosser’s Marine Inc.
Mr. Nosser was active in business and civic affairs in Vicksburg and was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Catherine Boler Nosser of Vicksburg; two daughters, Janice Strickland and her husband, Buddy, of Cleveland, and Sherry Cannada and her husband, Al, of Edwards; son Johnnie Nosser Jr. and his wife, Jamie, of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Matilda Hadad, Bessie Nosser, Juanita Mallo and Rosalie Nosser; and brothers Fred Nosser, Albert Nosser and Lawrence Nosser.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. Father John Morris officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 5 until 7 p.m. at Riles Funeral Home, with Trisagion Prayers at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Brian Strickland, Scott Verhine, Heath Cannada, Hunter Cannada, Dustin Cannada, Jake Dornbusch, Albert J. Nosser, Paul David Nosser and Bill Ray.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Daniel Edney, Dr. Michael Davis, Kirk Harper, Dr. J. D. Roberts, Bob Gordon, Recie Ray, Joe Loviza, Larry Nosser, Freddie Nosser and J.V. Cram.
