Meta Berkeley Morley
TALLULAH – Services for Meta Berkeley Morley were this morning, April 16, 2007, at Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Echols officiating. Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Morley died Saturday, April 14, 2007, in Canton. She was 88.
She had lived in Tallulah for 42 years and worked as a licensed real estate agent. She graduated from Mississippi School and College for Women and retired as a secretary from the Fifth Levee Board District. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kirk R. Morley; and a brother, Robert Hoffman Shackleford.
She is survived by her son, Kirk S. Morley of Tallulah; and a daughter, Meta B. Morley of Tallulah.
Memorials may be made to Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society or Trinity Episcopal Church.
Betty Jo Shaw
TALLULAH – Betty Jo Shaw died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 71.
Born in Rosedale, Miss., Mrs. Shaw had worked at Neal Butane and Beechwood Restaurant in Vicksburg. She later moved to Mabank, Texas, where she worked as a pilot car driver. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two sons, Edward Dwayne Shaw of Kemp, Texas, and Terrence Glen Shaw of Tallulah; a daughter, Laura Darnelle “Nell” Noland of Tallulah; three brothers, Gerald Wayne Johnson of Kentucky, Marion Roger Johnson of Andrews, Texas, and Otho Howie Johnson of Odessa, Texas; three sisters, Peggy Sue Degeyter of West Monroe, Rendy Kay Sellers of Dumas, Ark., and Mary Lois Ojeda of Montana; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Noland, Chris Noland, Jason Noland, Chase Noland, Zachary Shaw and Whitney Shaw.
Denise Scott Sims
HATTIESBURG – Denise Scott Sims died Friday, April 13, 2007, at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg. She was 39.
She was a member of Beechland M.B. Church in Port Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, M’Queta LaShae Sims; and her parents, Emma France Howard Scott and John David Scott Sr.
She is survived be her husband, William Sims of Hattiesburg; her son, Anthony Sims of Hattiesburg; a daughter, Jasmine Sims of Hattiesburg; five sisters, Mildred Hicks, Linda Scott, Kisha Scott and Patricia Scott, all of Port Gibson, and Annette Sims of Vicksburg; two brothers, John David Scott Jr. of Port Gibson and John David Nash of Vicksburg.
Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson has charge of arrangements.
