Warren Central’s fast-pitch softball team hurdled Ocean Springs 6-3 on Tuesday in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs.

The Lady Vikes (15-10-1) will next meet mighty Oak Grove on the road Thursday in a best-of-three series. If WC can win one at, the series will return here on Saturday.

Andi Hearn doubled and Mandy Fuller tripled to lead the Lady Vikes’ 11 hits. Fuller, Tiffany Fuller and Kirsten Tackett each had two hits as the Lady Vikes erased an early deficit.

WC scored two runs in the top of the first, then saw Ocean Springs respond with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

After that, Tiffany Fuller did not allow another run over the final six innings.

The Lady Vikes scored four times in the top of the sixth to take a three-run lead.
