Minnie Grey Fletcher

Services for Minnie Grey Fletcher will be at 2 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Mrs. Fletcher died Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Claiborne County Nursing Center. She was 96.

A Vicksburg resident for many years, Mrs. Fletcher was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and had retired from Culkin School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter C. Tucker and Minnie Estelle Whitaker Tucker; her husband, Henry Fletcher; a son, Freddie L. Fletcher; a daughter, Janie Anderson; four sisters, Lottie Logue, Martha Irene Cadenhead, Clyde Mallett and Ruby Klineman; and a brother, John Tucker.

She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Ann Moody of Arlington, Texas, Betty Jo Anderson of Utica, Patsy Renfrow of Ferriday, La., and Linda Nations of Clayton, La.; two sons, Carroll Fletcher of Philadelphia, Miss., and Sidney Fletcher of Sicily Island, La.; 31 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Paul Wright, Michael Renfrow, William Stacy Moody, Monty Fletcher, John Fletcher and Johnathon Fletcher.

George Grayer Sr.

George Grayer Sr. died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at his home. He was 76.

Mr. Grayer was retired from Bunge and the Vicksburg Warren School District. He was a member of St. James M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Grayer; two sisters, Lillie Parker and Melvina Summers; and grandparents, Rosetta Harris and Wilson Phillips.

He is survived by five sons, George Grayer Jr. of Joliet, Ill., Thomas Grayer of Newport News, Va., Roosevelt Bailey of Vicksburg, and Donnell Grayer and Mickey Grayer of Seattle, Wash.; four daughters, Rosetta Noble and Ida Allen, both of Vicksburg, Annie Nelson of Leesville, La., and Antoinette Hoye of Brandon; his mother, Malinda Phillips Graves of Vicksburg; two stepdaughters, Gladys McElrath of Joliet and Vergie Thompson of Indianapolis; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives, including members of the Sullivan, Phillips and Barber families of Vicksburg.

Carey Leon Hill

Carey Leon &#8220Seymore” Hill died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 51.

A veteran of the Army, Mr. Hill served in Vietnam. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dona Earl Hill Jr. and Carrie Wallace Hill.

Survivors include his companion, Teressa Tubwell of Vicksburg; seven brothers, Dona Earl Hill III, Samuel Hill, Michael Hill and Alfred Wayne Hill, all of Vicksburg, Amos Ray Ross of Hilandburg, Germany, Robert Hill of Vallejo, Calif., and Johnny Hill of Flint, Mich.; five sisters, Ada Mae Jordan of Bolton, Brenda Joyce Ross of San Bernardino, Calif., Felicia Ann Ross of Tyler, Texas, Catherine S. Ross of Jackson and Mary Darlene Hill Rockingham of Port Gibson; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including the Wallace family of Bolton.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

James E. Huntley

James E. &#8220Tall Man” Huntley died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 58.

He was a member of New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church, serving on the usher board.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Hundley Sr.; and his grandmother.

He is survived by his wife, Hattie P. Huntley of Vicksburg; two sons, Thomas &#8220T.P.” Jackson of Vicksburg and Eric White of Sacramento, Calif.; four daughters, Talya Huntley Caston and Renee Reeves, both of Vallejo, Calif., and Susie Huntley and Rhonda Huntley, both of Vicksburg; his mother, Willie Mae Ousley of Vicksburg; seven brothers, John Woods of Vicksburg and Hubert Hundley Jr., Issac Hundley, Nathaniel Hundley, Dwight Hundley, Clifton Hundley and Clinton Hundley, all of Sacramento; two sisters, Gloria Hundley and Jacqueline Hundley, both of Sacramento; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Annie L. Hundley and Anna Johnson, both of Jackson, and Della Caples and Leroy Peaches, both of Dallas.

Elena Palmer Liggins

Elena Palmer Liggins died Friday, April 27, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 78.

Mrs. Liggins was a custodian.

Rosalind Y. Littleton

Rosalind Y. Littleton died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 40.

Mrs. Littleton was a member of Standfield New Life Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Edith Marshall Williams.

Survivors include her husband, John O. Littleton of Vicksburg; two sisters, Mary Marshall Calvin and Gloria Marshall Givens, both of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Dorothy Purvis McCaa

HERMANVILLE – Dorothy Purvis McCaa died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at North Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Oxford. She was 83.

Born in Hermanville, Mrs. McCaa was a lifelong resident of Claiborne County. She was a sales clerk for Claiborne Hardware Co., retiring in 2004 after 31 years of employment. She was a member of Hermanville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Warren; a son, Robert Warren; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John &#8220JR” Purvis.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Renee Anderson of Oxford; a grandson, Robert D. Warren of Epps, La.; a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Jean Warren of Hermanville; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. today at Hermanville Baptist Church. Burial followed at Hermanville Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Pallbearers were Johnny Purvis, Darrell Purvis, Steve Purvis, Warren Purvis, Mark Anderson, Trey Fulton, Brad Anderson and Ty Warren.

Henry Cecil Tompkins

Henry Cecil Tompkins died Thursday, April 26, 2007, at his home in Olathe, Kan. He was 65.

Mr. Tompkins was born in Warren County and had been living in Olathe since 1988. He was employed by Waterways Experiment Station for a number of years and was retired from Garmin Industries in Olathe.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil Cook Tompkins of Olathe; two daughters, Angela Caldwell of Overton, Texas, and Tracy Zambrano of Overland Park, Kan.; one sister, Jeanette Carlisle of Yokena; one brother, James Tompkins of Jackson; and one grandson, Evan M. Zambrano of Overland Park.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bill Mullen, Dan Cook, Michael Koestler, John Gullett, J.C. Gullett and Dusty Gray.

Inez M. White

Inez M. White died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Heritage House. She was 86.

Born in Attala County, Mrs. White had been a Vicksburg resident since 1946. She was the daughter of the late Walter L. May and Maggie Sue Oakes May.

She retired in 1982 as a clerk from the U.S. Post Office in Vicksburg. She was a member Warrenton Independent Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Percy White in 1977; and three sisters, Mary Jane May Lowe, Louise May Ellis and Johnny Juanita May.

She is survived by a sister, Yverlette May Newell of Kosciusko; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with Marvin Curtis, pastor of Warrenton Independent Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Musselwhite Cemetery in Attala County.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service.
