Helen Price Cox
Services for Helen Price Cox will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church with the Rev. Phillip Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Second Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cox died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 69.
A homemaker, Mrs. Cox was a member of Zion Travelers M.B. Church and Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Elbert Cox Sr.; her parents, Jasper Price Sr. and Emma Neal Price; a son, Michael A. Cox; a brother, Jasper Price Jr.; and a sister, Ruby Gaston.
She is survived by four sons, Elbert Cox Jr., Melvin H. Cox, Percy E. Cox and Scottie J. Cox Sr., all of Vicksburg; two daughters, Lisa Cox Shelton and Velma Cox Rankin, both of Vicksburg; a brother, the Rev. Simon Price of Greenville; six sisters, Carrie Lee Taylor and Cedella Williams, both of Utica, Amy Flagg of Edwards, Sadie Chillis of Greenville, Barbara Marshall of Aurora and Bertha Gibson of Fayetteville, S.C.; and 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Genette Denise Davis Edwards
HERMANVILLE – Genette Denise Davis Edwards died Friday, May 4, 2007, at her home in Hermanville. She was 40.
Mrs. Edwards was a member of Greater St. Mark M.B. Church in Port Gibson, where she was an usher. She was director of nursing at Claiborne County Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Geneva Jennings Davis.
Survivors include her husband, Willie E. Edwards of Hermanville; two sons, Willie Germaine Edwards and Tevin Tremaine Edwards, both of Hermanville; two brothers, Hansel Davis and Rufus Davis, both of Hermanville; three sisters, Virgie Mays of Port Gibson, Octavis Davis of Hermanville and Delphine Davis of Arlington, Texas; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating. Burial will follow at the Jennings Family Cemetery in Hermanville.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
James E. Huntley
Services for James E. “Tall Man” Huntley will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Center. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and Saturday at the center from noon until the service.
Mr. Huntley died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 58.
Mr. Huntley was a member of New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church, serving on the usher board.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Hundley Sr.; a brother, Dwight Hundley; and his grandmother.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie P. Huntley of Vicksburg; two sons, Thomas “T.P.” Jackson of Vicksburg and Eric White of Sacramento, Calif.; four daughters, Talya Huntley Caston and Renee Reeves, both of Vallejo, Calif., and Susie Huntley and Rhonda Huntley, both of Vicksburg; his mother, Willie Mae Ousley of Vicksburg; six brothers, John Woods of Vicksburg and Hubert Hundley Jr., Issac Hundley, Nathaniel Hundley, Clifton Hundley and Clinton Hundley, all of Sacramento; three sisters, Gloria Hundley and Jacqueline Hundley, both of Sacramento, and Lenora Thompson of Greenville; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Annie Lee Hundley of Vicksburg, Anna Johnson of Jackson, and Della Caples and Leroy Peaches, both of Dallas.
Dr. Thomas Randle Sanders
LAKE CHARLES, La. – Dr. Thomas Randle Sanders died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Guardian Assisted Living Home in Lake Charles, La. He was 87.
Born in Jackson, Tenn., Dr. Sanders had been a resident of Lake Charles and Creole, La., for the past five years. He was a chief petty officer for the Navy during World War II in North Africa.
A graduate of University of Tennessee School of Dentistry, he practiced dentistry for 38 years in Lepanto, Ark. He served as president and vice president of Northeast Arkansas Dental Association and deacon and Sunday school teacher for First Baptist Church of Lepanto.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Dunn Sanders.
He is survived by two sons, John Sanders of San Angelo, Texas, and Richard Sanders of Lake Charles; a daughter, Camille Thomas of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Duffle officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Lepanto, Ark.
Roosevelt Singleton
EDWARDS – Services for Roosevelt Singleton will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Singleton died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 30.
He was employed as a security guard.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Jordon; and a brother, James Singleton.
He is survived by his mother, Johnnie Ruth Singleton of Edwards; three brothers, D.Y. Singleton of Gary, Ind., Donnie Singleton and Michael Singleton, both of Edwards; three sisters, Willie Nichols of Chicago, Clementine Singleton of Gary and Janice Singleton Foster of Jackson; and other relatives and friends.
Lena Mae Tolliver
Lena Mae Tolliver died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 55.
Mrs. Tolliver was a member of Travelers Rest Baptist Church. She was employed with Wal-Mart SuperCenter.
She was preceded in death by her father, Peter Smith Sr.; her maternal grandparents, Martin and Frances Gilchrist; and her paternal grandparents, Calvin and Mary Smith.
She is survived by her husband, David L. Tolliver Sr.; two sons, Lt. David L. Tolliver Jr. of Naples, Italy, and Stephen L. Tolliver of Vicksburg; her daughter, Jennifer L. Tolliver of New Orleans; her mother, Pearl E. Smith of Vicksburg; three sisters, Pearl Nelson of Vicksburg, Mary Washington of Texas and Patricia Benson of Alabama; two brothers, Peter Smith Jr. of Florida and Ken Jolly of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
