A Warren County woman was killed on impact in a one-car wreck on Fisher Ferry Road in Claiborne County late Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Paula O. Ebeling, 48, 5429 Gibson Road, was northbound on Fisher Ferry, a mile south of the Big Black River, at 4:43 p.m. when she lost control of her 1979 Pontiac Firebird, ran off a sharp curve in the road and slammed into a tree 30 yards from the road, Claiborne County Sheriff’s deputies said.

The accident was being investigated by Claiborne County deputies, but emergency response came from multiple agencies, including Fisher Ferry Volunteer Fire Department and Hinds County authorities.

Claiborne County Coroner J.W. Mallett said Ebeling was killed on impact, adding Glenwood Funeral Home will have charge of arrangements.

A miniature Schnauzer named Maggie was said by family members to be in the vehicle with Ebeling at the time of the accident, but was not injured.

The accident is the second fatal wreck this month to occur just beyond Warren County borders.

Hannah Grace Austin, 4, died May 5 after a wreck on Old Port Gibson Road near Utica in Hinds County. Warren County Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess was called to the scene.

Inside Vicksburg and Warren County, four fatal wrecks have occurred in 2007. The most recent was when a car struck a utility pole on U.S. 80 April 26.
