Robert Allen
Services for Robert “Man” Allen will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah M.B. Church with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday at Robbins Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Mr. Allen died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 76.
Mr. Allen was of Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Randall Allen Sr. and Lezora Allen; his wife, Pluncy Johnson; a son, Lawrence Eugene Allen; two brothers, Laureen Allen and James Frank Allen; and a sister, Goldie Wheatly.
Mr. Allen is survived by a son, Robert McCune of Oceanside, Calif.; a daughter, Willie Mae Hunter of Hammond, Ind.; five sisters, Lezora Bland of Sacramento, Ada Wallae and Elizabeth Mack, both of Edwards, Thelma Stamps of Jackson and Betty Williams of Modesto, Calif.; four brothers, Willie Allen of Vicksburg, Melvin Allen and Arthur J. Allen, both of Modesto, and Randall Allen Jr. of Mattoon, Ill.; and nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and other relatives, including Melvin Judge.
Talmadge A. Crane
NEWELLTON – Talmadge A. Crane died Monday, June 4, 2007, at Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home in Lafayette, La. He was 92.
Mr. Crane was born in Forest, La., and had lived in Newellton for 74 years. He was a retired farmer and a charter member of Newellton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Dale Crane of Pineville, La., Keith Crane of St. Joseph and Dr. Kirk Crane of Lafayette; one daughter, Gloria Marquis of Alvin, Texas; one sister, Ruby Cook of Shreveport, La.; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Newellton with the Rev. J. Fulton McGraw officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Robert E. Davidson
BRANDON – Robert E. “Toby” Davidson died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at his home in Brandon. He was 79.
Retired from Waterways Experiment Station, Mr. Davidson also worked as an assistant manager for Fairgrounds Antique Flea Market.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Davidson of Brandon; a daughter, Terri Roby Davidson of Brandon; a sister, Myrtis Ford of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Debbie Davidson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Tyrone Wells of Central Baptist Church officiating.

Alice Dukes-Harris
JACKSON – Services for Alice Dukes-Harris will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson with Dr. Walter Greer officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg.
Mrs. Dukes-Harris died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 59.
Mrs. Dukes-Harris was born to the late Carrie and Ellis Dukes in Panther, Miss. She was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and Utica Junior College. She had worked at Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Travelers Insurance and Pearl School System. A former member of St. Marks Baptist Church in Vicksburg, she later joined Mount Vision Baptist and Harmony Life Baptist churches in Jackson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ardelia Hill; and a granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Harris; three children, Andre Dukes, Monique Horton and Wallace Horton, all of Jackson; two brothers, Robert Mason of Greenville and Johnnie Mason of Euba City, Calif.; three sisters, Alma Robinson of Vicksburg, Thelma Morris of Joliet, Ill., and Edna Ware of Tupelo; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Nancy Priscilla Jennings
HERMANVILLE – Nancy Priscilla Jennings died Monday, June 4, 2007, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. She was 61.
Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Rosie Lillie Ewell-Jennings; four brothers, Samuel V. Jennings, John I. Jennings, Daniel Jennings and Melvin Jennings; two sisters, Genevia Davis and Cordelia Jennings-Sewell; and a grandson, SaQuan Thompson.
Survivors include a son, Sebastian Butch “Tara” Thompson of Hermanville; a daughter, Yolanda Thompson of Port Gibson; two brothers, David E. Jennings and Wilbert “Dorothy” Jennings, both of Hermanville; three sisters, Alice Mae Jennings of Los Angeles, Rosie B. “Willie” Jennings-Williams of Vicksburg and Annie L. Jackson of Hermanville; nine grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including LaFanie G. Cain and Stephanie Wade of Jackson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at King David Christian Church with the Rev. Percy Terrell officiating. Burial will follow at the Jennings Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Robert William Rushing
TYLERTOWN – Services for Robert William Rushing will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Union Baptist Church in Tylertown. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Mr. Williams died Monday, June 4, 2007, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah.
He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Tylertown School System.
James Alvin Townsend
TILLMAN – Services for James Alvin Townsend will be at noon Saturday at Rose Hill Christian Church in Lorman with Elder Walter Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Christian Church Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service.
Mr. Townsend died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at his home in Lorman. He was 68.
He was preceded in death by his parents, U.D. and Lula Townsend; four sisters, Callie Nash, Lessie Riley, Annie Lois Townsend and Iweda Greer; five brothers, Bobby Townsend, Leroy Townsend, Lee Willie Townsend, Jay Boler and Lindsey Boler.
He is survived by his wife, Mattie Townsend of Port Gibson; a son, Kenneth Alvin Townsend of Port Gibson; two daughters, Valerie Townsend and Lolita Flowers, both of Port Gibson; three brothers, Howard Townsend and Robert Townsend, both of Port Gibson, and Billy C. Townsend of Newton; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
