A shooting early Sunday in Claiborne County left one person dead and one injured, said Sheriff Frank Davis.

&#8220I have two people in jail, but I haven’t officially charged anyone yet,” Davis said this morning. He declined to identify the two.

Percy Johnson, 19, address unavailable, was shot outside a Chevron gas station at U.S. 61 and Mississippi 18 between 1 and 2:30 a.m., Davis said. Johnson was taken to University Medical Center, where he died, Davis said.

Edward Amos, age and address unavailable, was shot in the leg, Davis said. He was taken to River Region Medical Center, where he was listed this morning in fair condition, a hospital spokesman said.

The shootings were the result of a fight, Davis said, but did not give any details.
