were at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Star of Hope Mausoleum in Claremont, Ill., with Paul Goss officiating. Burial followed at Crest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney.

Mrs. Bieri died Friday, June 15, 2007, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. She was 81.

Mrs. Bieri was born in Olney, Ill., to Elmer and Ersa Ingraham Jones. She had worked at Burgin Manor Nursing Home in Olney. She attended First Assembly of God in Olney.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by three daughters, Audrey Allen, Todd Bieri and Ardelle Sanders; a son, Ben Taylor; and four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and friends, including Susie Graves of Olney.

Lambert David Culley

PORT GIBSON – Lambert David Culley died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Claiborne County Hospital in Port Gibson. He was 19.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Culley had been a resident of Port Gibson for the past five years. He was a 2006 graduate of St. Aloysius High School. He loved baseball, football and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lynda Anderson Bufkin.

He is survived by his father, George Culley of Port Gibson; his mother, Valynda Culley of Port Gibson; one brother, Brian Culley of Port Gibson; his paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Maria Culley of Port Gibson; his maternal grandparents, Jack and Bonnie Bufkin of Vicksburg; and a special friend, Julie Spence of Clinton.

Graveside services will be at noon Saturday at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson with the Rev. Michael Herrin officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Spencer Carney, Brett Bufkin, Mark Anderson, Chris Bufkin, Tony Bufkin and Justin Bufkin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Spencer, Jack Bufkin Jr., Ken Bufkin, Michael Park, Oscar Dougherty, Ray Ford and James Hampton.

Lettie B. Davis

NEW ORLEANS – Lettie B. Davis died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at her home. She was 88.

A former resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Davis had resided in New Orleans, La., for the past 27 years. She was of the Jehovah Witness faith.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Williams; and nine brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Davis leaves to mourn her three daughters, Cutine &#8220Q.T.” (Dan) Pittman and Mary (Alfred) Simmons Jones, both of Slidell, La., and Annie (Ernie) Jenkins of Vicksburg; her son, Robert (Brenda) Simmons of Monroe, La.; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2007, at The Kingdom Hall, 1475 Fremaux Ave., Slidell, La., with the Rev. Arthur Raymond officiating. Doyle’s Funeral Home in Slidell has charge of arrangements.

Charles Greer

Charles Greer died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at his home. He was 48.

A native of Springfield, Ill., Mr. Greer was a former Rolling Fork resident and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 20 years. He was employed with Bell’s Towing Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Greer.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Greer of Vicksburg; one son, Randy Anderson of Tennessee; one daughter, Stacy Faulkner of Delta; a brother, Joe Greer of Vicksburg; and three sisters, Kathy Peay, Mary Lee and Donna Lawrence, all of Vicksburg; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Faulkner, Jeramy Mejias, Michael Peay, Charlie Lee, Billy Leach and Stan Leach.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Bell, David Faulkner, Bobby Leach Jr., Jesse Mejias and employees of Bell’s Enterprises.

Mae Rowland Marter

FOREST – Mrs. Mae Rowland Marter, 91, died at the Lackey Convalescent Home on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. She was the daughter of Reuben W. and Mary C. Rowland of Vicksburg. She was born and reared in Vicksburg.

Mrs. Marter was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Marter. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald R. Roberts; a daughter, Cynthia G. Roberts; and their father, G.E. Roberts; and several sisters, including the late Mrs. Grace R. Knox of Bel Air, MD.

Mrs. Marter attended school in Vicksburg and was a member of the first class to graduate from Carr Central High School in 1933. She was also a graduate of Southern Business College of Vicksburg.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vicksburg for most of her life. She served as secretary of the Junior Department where she was a teacher of 4-year-olds and 7-year-olds. She was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class. She had been a member of Forest United Methodist Church since she and her husband moved to Forest in 1994.

Mrs. Marter worked for the Vicksburg District Corps of Engineers for almost 30 years, most of that time as clerk of the Safety Office. She assisted in getting out the Social Security cards when they were first issued in the 1930s; she also helped compute the World War I veterans’ bonuses in 1936.

Mrs. Marter is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and John Boutwell of Forest; two granddaughters, Jessie B. Partridge and Kelly A. Boutwell, both of Jackson; a great-grandson, Ren Partridge; several nieces; and other relatives, including members of the Lewis J. Roberts family and members of the Henry Marter family.

Mrs. Marter’s hobbies included growing house plants, sewing, ceramics, reading and playing canasta. She also had a great love for children.

Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. today at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Forest with a 12:30 p.m. graveside at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg.
