OXFORD – Although their season ended three weeks ago, the honors continue to roll in for a pair of young Ole Miss Rebels.

Former Vicksburg High star Jordan Henry and Zach Miller were named Freshman All-Americans by Baseball America.

Henry was named as a first team selection in the outfield, while Miller was selected to the second team as a designated hitter. Both were also selected Freshman All-America by Collegiate Baseball last month.

&#8220It’s a tremendous honor for both Jordan and Zach to be selected as Freshman All-Americans by Baseball America, and it is certainly an honor they both deserve,” said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. &#8220Both of these young men played important roles in our success this season and it’s always nice to see that contribution and their athletic ability recognized.”

It was the fifth postseason honor Henry has received. The outfielder was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year and earned spots on the All-SEC Second Team and Freshman team from the league’s coaches.

Henry spent most of the season as the Rebels’ leadoff hitter and finished with a .376 average. He reached base safely in 62 of 65 games, including 46 straight. He also had a team-best 16-game hit streak this season, and hit safely in 18 straight SEC games.

Miller, a second baseman from Memphis, hit .368 with four home runs, seven doubles and three triples. He led the team with a .542 slugging percentage and was named to the All-SEC Freshman team.

Also Monday, former Ole Miss shortstop Zack Cozart signed a contract with the Cincinnati Reds and has been designated for assignment.

The 79th overall selection in June’s major league draft, Cozart will start his pro career with the Class A Dayton (Ohio) Dragons of the Midwest League.
