Carrie V. Garrett
Carrie V. Garrett died Friday, July 20, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81.
Mrs. Garrett was a retired beautician
Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Mary Reed Ford.
Mrs. Garrett is survived by her husband, Arthur Garrett Jr.; two sons, Albert D. Bass of Jackson and James Edward Bass of St. Louis; and two daughters, Dorothy L. Barber and Mary Jeanette Moore, both of St. Louis.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Mary Mildred Keen
Mary Mildred Keen died Friday, July 20, 2007, at her son’s home in Oak Ridge. She was 77.
Mrs. Keen was born in Isola and had lived in Vicksburg for many years and in Ocean Springs for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Ingram and Jimmy Tarrance; her sister, Betty Sherman; her grandson, Walter Jones; and her granddaughter, Charlotte Jones.
Mrs. Keen is survived by her daughter, Ann Jones of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; three sons, Donnie Keen of Ocean Springs, George Allen Roberts of Gulfport and James “Bubba” Keen of Vicksburg; two sisters, Lois Bean of Texarkana, Texas, and Ruby Cockrell of Charleston, S.C.; four brothers, James Ingram of Vicksburg, Bobby Ingram of Greenville, Grover Ingram of Yazoo City and Noel Bo Tarrance of Brandon; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 this afternoon at Glenwood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronnie O’Quinn officiating. Burial will follow at Redditt Cemetery in Oak Ridge.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Glen Redditt, Tony Keen, Danny Keen, Sean Keen, Todd Hampton and Gerald Vanderford.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Lyons, D.W. Lyons, Joey Redditt, John Raney and Steve Carlisle.
Robert D. Wade Jr.
PORT GIBSON – Robert D. “Bobby” Wade Jr. died Friday, July 20, 2007, at his home. He was 82.
Mr. Wade was a lifelong resident of Port Gibson. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Wade worked for the Bureau of Public Roads during the construction of the Natchez Trace Parkway and he owned and operated Wade Surveying and Engineering Co. He finished his career with Allan and Hassell Engineering in Jackson.
He also was a founding member of Claiborne Educational Foundation, where he served on the board. He was a founding member of Mosswood County Club and Claiborne County Mississippi State University Bulldog Club. He was also a member of Washington Post No. 3 Masonic Lodge and a deacon and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson.
Mr. Wade was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlene Wade, in 1990.
Mr. Wade is survived by his wife, Dianne P. Wade of Port Gibson; four daughters, Sandra W. Sassone of Osyka, Kathy W. Keathley of Gulfport, Deborah W. Shelton of Delhi, La., and Diane W. Provance of Vicksburg; a son, Robert D. Wade III of Jackson; a stepson, Thomas Kevin Beard of Los Angeles; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson with the Rev. Michael Herrin officiating. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Monday until the service at the church. Glenwood Funeral Home of Port Gibson is handling the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Zack Shelton, Jason Shelton, Massey Shelton, Chris Sassone, Shannon Sassone, Noel Keathley, Ryan Provance and Kyle Provance.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and elders of First Presbyterian Church of Port Gibson and all former employees of Wade Surveying and Engineering Co.
Raymond Emil Zagorski
Raymond Emil Zagorski died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 81.
Mr. Zagorski, a native of Bayside, N.Y., and a longtime resident of Vicksburg, was a retired U.S. Navy lieutenant commander and World War II veteran. He had been retired for 37 years after serving 27 years in the Navy. He was an aviator who participated in the Mercury space recovery mission and flew aircraft in Hawaii, Cuba, Japan, Europe, Africa and the Philippines. He served a tour on the aircraft carriers Lexington and Kearsarge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lottie Zagorski; and his sister, Irene Still of Connecticut.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Swett Zagorski; two sons, Raymond Emil Zagorski Jr. of Clarkfork, Idaho, and the Rev. Jan Alexander Zagorski of the Archdiocese of Mobile; a stepson, S. Jay Ratliff; a daughter, Patricia Ann Zagorski of Houma, La.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be said for Mr. Zagorski at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Fisher Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
Internment will be at Pensacola (Fla.) Naval Air Station in Pensacola at a later date.
