Jerry E. Burks

PATTISON – Services for Jerry E. Burks will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beechland M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Frank McGriggs officiating. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of# Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of service at the church. Mr. Burks died Friday, July 27, 2007, in Port Gibson. He was 50.

He is survived by his mother, Earnestine Atlas Alexander of Port Gibson; his father, Prince Coleman Sr. of Lorman; one son, Jerry E. Burks Jr. of Port Gibson; one daughter, Sadie R. Burks of Port Gibson; three sisters, Stacey White and Debbie Spencer, both of Port Gibson, and D’Aundra Tyson of Andrews Air Force Base, Md.; eight brothers, Tonnie Atlas, Andrew McCaplin, Frankie Atlas and Ronnie Atlas, all of Port Gibson, Frederick Alexander of Fayette, Ron Coleman of Biloxi, Reggie Coleman of Lorman and Gerald Coleman of Natchez; one granddaughter, and other relatives and friends, including the Eaddy, Davis, Scott, Burks and Atlas families.

Chattie Dunigan III

RIDGELAND – Services for Chattie Dunigan III will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Light M.B. Church with the Rev. Clearance Hunt Jr. officiating.

Mr. Dunigan died Friday, July 27, 2007, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 32.

He is survived by his father, Chattie Dunigan II of Delta City; a son, Chattie Dunigan IV of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter, Chyenne Dunigan of Birmingham; and a sister, Victoria Maddox of Montgomery, Ala.

Walker Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Fal P. Knight Sr.

Fal P. Knight Sr. died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 71.

A retiree from the U.S. Army, Mr. Knight was a member of Poplar Hill Church in Lorman and American Legion Tyner-Ford Post 213.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Knight Sr. and Georgian P. Knight; two brothers, Eddie Knight and Elijah Knight; and a sister, Ethel Lee Knight.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Knight of Vicksburg; five sons, Fal P. Knight Jr. and Otis William Knight, both of Chicago, Danny Neal Knight and Gregory Lawerence Knight, both of Washington, D.C., and Glennis Earl Knight of Vicksburg; three daughters, Georgia Marie Knight of Chicago, Debra Ann Knight of Washington, D.C., and Angela Hyde of Stockridge, Ga.; 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Louise Nette Perkins

In loving memory of Louise Nette Perkins, born Aug. 26, 1920, in Vicksburg.

She was the first of three children born to Robert Lewis (1987) and Laura Spates Lewis (1980), an active businessman in Vicksburg who owned the Jackson Road filling station for 49 years.

Louise celebrated 86 years of life and passed away peacefully on July 28, 2007, in the loving arms of her family.

She is survived by her lifelong companion after 70 years of marriage, Ephriam &#8220Johnnyā€¯ Perkins; five of her seven children, Laura Louise Stephens, Betty Richards and Gregory Perkins, each of Oakland, Calif., Harriett Paysinger of Vallejo, Calif., and Roderick Perkins of Menlo Park, Calif.; and four generations of family.

Services were held today, Aug. 3, 2007.

Louise was laid to rest near her home since 1942 at Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond, Calif.

Jonathan Erik Shores

NEWELLTON – Services for Jonathan Erik Shores of Newellton will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home. The Rev. David McKiethen will officiate. Visitation will be from noon Saturday until the hour of service at the cemetery.

Mr. Shores was born February 5, 1974, in Monroe, La., and passed from this life on July 30, 2007. Jonathan loved music and he was a pretty good guitar player.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his father, Robert Shores and his wife, Paula, of Vicksburg; his mother, Artie Rebscher and her husband, Mike, of Connecticut; one brother, Phillip Shores of Vicksburg; one sister, Jamie Hackett and her husband, Dwayne, of Vicksburg; a step-daughter, Ashley Anschulz; three nephews, one niece and numerous aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be Steven Bamburg, Dwayne Hackett, Robbie Hemphill, Ricky King, Larry Mizell and Robert Russell.

Adrian Denise Johnson Walker

Adrian Denise Johnson Walker died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. She was 53.

Mrs. Walker was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Bovina. She was employed as head cook at Taco Casa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Meeka Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Edward Walker; four sons, Dedric Walker of Gary, Ind., Cliff Gardley and Kantad Gardley, both of Chicago, and Monte Jackson of Vicksburg; two brothers, Carl Anderson and John Tate, both of Vicksburg; four sisters, Stephanie John and Lula Rebecca Davis, both of Vicksburg, Tammy Tate of Minneapolis and Whysheena Flowers of Fresno, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Sylvester Wardley Sr.

Services for Sylvester Wardley Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Triumph M.B. Church with the Rev. Troy Truly officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service. Visitation will be from noon until 6 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Wardley died Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 85.

He was a member of Triumph M.B. Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the trustee board. He had retired from Anderson-Tully Co. and was in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Paragon Lodge No. 7.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mose Wardley and Hattie Moore; three brothers, Willie Wardley, William Wardley and George Smith; four sisters, Florence Burns, Mary Anderson, Helen Anderson and Cecile Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Benard Wardley of Vicksburg; two sons, Willie Wardley of Vicksburg, and Sylvester Wardley Jr. of Atlanta; six stepdaughters, Jackie Benard, Nancy Benard, Lucille Austin, Lenora Benard, Delisa Mixon and Hope Austin, all of Vicksburg; a stepson, Michael James Austin; a sister, Emily Middleton of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Greta Wardley.
