Frances Mae Brewer
CLAIBORNE COUNTY – Frances Mae Brewer, a wonderful mother and best friend, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson after a long battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. She was 68.
She had been employed by the Claiborne County Hospital for the past 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Floyd; and a brother, Jean Floyd.
Survivors include her mother, Bobbie Floyd of Gonzales, La.; a special friend, John “Jackie” Morris; four daughters, Shirley Searle and husband, Rocky, of Melbourne, Australia, Laura Fowler and husband, Marlin, of Caston, Ala., Jane Fuller and husband, Mack, of Vicksburg and Lyn Dillon and husband, Austin, of Morton; two sons, Jody Parman and wife, Polly, of Waynesboro and Lacy Parman and wife, Jennifer, of Mooreland, Iowa; two brothers, J.C. Floyd of Mantee and Ervin Floyd of Holly Springs; four sisters, Gladys Trisdale of Ridgeland, Dorothy Jobe of Vicksburg, Estelle Beaver of Gonzales and Clara Chapman of South Carolina; and grandchildren, Giovanna, Vincent and Michael Scarfo, Mack Fuller, T.C. Livingston, Misty Slay, Erica Bowman, Kyle Dillon, Logan and Eric Parman and Jody Parman Jr.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Toby Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home in Port Gibson.
Pallbearers will be Mack Fuller III, T.C. Livingston, Sando Newell, Earnest Mathes, Edward Mathes and Robert Morris.
Rose Nagher Habeeb
Rose Nagher Habeeb, a 73-year resident of Vicksburg, passed away Aug. 11, 2007, at age 90.
She was born Dec. 6, 1916, in Johnstown, Pa., to George and Deeby Najjar Nagher. After her marriage to William Habeeb on June 20, 1934, in Detroit, Mich., she and her husband made Vicksburg their home.
She was a member of St. George Antiochian Church. She was a Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies of St. George. She enjoyed many other community organizations, including the Salvation Army, Easter Seals Society and the Cedars Ladies Club.
Her strength and spirit will be missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Deeby Najjar Nagher; her sister, Bessie Moghab; her husband, William Habeeb; her daughter Loretta and son-in-law, James Nielsen.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Habeeb Nielsen of Vicksburg; two granddaughters, Rachael Nielsen Lowery and husband, James, of Hazlehurst and Rhonda Nielsen of Brandon; two great-grandsons, Robert F. Hardy II of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Donny Lowery and wife, Nikie, of Terry; one great-great-granddaughter, Alayna Parker Lowery of Terry; two brothers, Emile Nagher of Huntington Woods, Mich., and Sam Nagher of Redford, Mich.; one sister, Ina Samra of Lesing, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. Father John Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home. Trisagion Prayers will be at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Charles Abraham, Alex Habeeb, Freddie Abraham, Dr. Mark Ladner, Randy Thorn, Eugene Underwood, Fred Ruckert and Albert Habeeb.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Tzotzolas, Edward Habeeb, Robert Arnold, George Abraham, Ellis Koury, George Habeeb, Whitney Doiron, Dr. Paul Pierce III, Dr. Abdul Bahro and Elias Rantisi.

Jimmy King
ROLLING FORK – Jimmy King died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at his home in Rolling Fork. He was 78.
Mr. King is survived by seven sons, Willie King, Jerry King, Tony King and Robert King, all of Erie, Pa., Jimmy King Jr. and James King, both of Rolling Fork, and Leroy King Sr. of Itta Bena; six daughters, Mary Smith and Deloris Rollie, both of Erie, Eula Wright of Jackson, Gloria Vaughan of Vicksburg, Elture Sorenson of Riverside, Calif., and Betty Williams of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, A.D. King of Detroit; one sister, Bertha Phillips of Erie; and 58 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Herald M.B. Church in Rolling Fork with Pastor Frank Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Green Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 until 5 today at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Dorothy Lawrence
Dorothy Lawrence died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 73.
A native of Isola, Mrs. Lawrence had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 50 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Warrenton Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Lawrence Sr.; a sister, Lillian Loftin Jones; and two granddaughters, Myranda Sue Lawrence and Sarah Steen Haddox.
She is survived by four sons, Roger Dale Lawrence of Vicksburg, Jerry Lee Lawrence of Utica, Lennie Ray Lawrence of Clinton and Howard Lawrence Jr. of Benton, Tenn.; two daughters, Margie Denise Lawrence of Vicksburg and Alecia Darlene Ferguson of Columbus; three brothers, Gene Loftin of Clinton, Charles Loftin of Bay St. Louis and Henry Loftin of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; five sisters, Shirley Bell of Monroe, Betty Grady of Laguna Nigel, Calif., Susie Dismuke of Memphis, Zell Mitchell of Crossville, Tenn., and Dean Rauseo of Palm Beach, Fla.; and 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Les Ferguson and Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Kavanaugh, Stanley McCullough, Danny Daniels, John Lawrence, Jerry Lawrence Jr. and Donnie Cain.
Neil C. Pinkston
EFFINGHAM, N.H. – Neil C. Pinkston died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at his home in Effingham, N.H. He was 81.
Mr. Pinkston was born in Vicksburg to the late Charles J. and Ann Olea Bacon Pinkston. He attended Vicksburg schools and joined the Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was based in Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He worked at the Indian Mound Hardware in Center Ossipee, N.H., for 21 years. He was a member of the Vicksburg Elks and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Pinkston.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years Shirley Huston Pinkston of Effingham; six daughters, Shirley Avery of Bridgeville, Del., Melody Stockman of Melvin Village, N.H., Leslie Stroud of New Hampton, N.H., Valerie Botelho of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Wendy Hatton of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Paula Ninnivaggi of Bedford, N.H.; two sisters, Nell Cunny of Vicksburg and Pauline Turner of Marianna, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lord Funeral Home in Wolfeboro.
