Bre’Linda LeAirrah Barnes

Bre’Linda LeAirrah Barnes, infant daughter of Leroy Barnes Sr. and Minerva Harris of Vicksburg, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at River Region Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward Lewis Caston and Johnny Grant; and her great-grandparents, Addie B. Rodgers and Square Harris.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Leroy Barnes Jr.; four sisters, Keshona Barnes, LaKia Barnes, Joyce Ann Avion Barnes and Khiana Austin, all of Vicksburg; her grandparents, Gladys Grant, Irene Harris, Tommy Scott and Johnny Shelton; her great-grandparents, Willie B. Hill and Annie Mae Shelton; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Cool Springs M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

James Johnson

James &#8220Fuzzy” Johnson died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 65.

Mr. Johnson worked as a custodian at Pemberton Square mall. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pink Barnes; and his mother, Elizabeth Smith.

He is survived by a son, Joel Rome of Vicksburg; a daughter, Trina Johnson of Vicksburg; and a sister, Martha Brooks of Vicksburg.

Sylvain Wolff Klaus

Sylvain Wolff Klaus, 83, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at River Region Medical Center.

Mr. Klaus was born in Washington, La., but grew up in Cary on Deer Creek. He graduated first in his class of seven from Cary High School. He was active in basketball, baseball and won the Delta Championship. He said about growing up in Cary, &#8220I was happy. I rode my bike, picked peaches and had animals for friends. I boxed. I had fun.”

He attended Ole Miss until he joined the Navy during World War II. He served in Newfoundland, Labrador, Iceland and England. He flew anti-submarine missions, pre-D-Day bombing missions and was in the battle of the Bay of Biscay against 12 destroyers. He entered the Navy in 1942 with the rank of Aviation Ordinance Man and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, five air medals, Victory Medal, European Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in February 1946.

His proudest moments included honoring his mother and father and enjoying his brothers.

Mr. Klaus was instrumental in organizing and running the Vicksburg Dixie Youth Little League program for 30-40 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.

He and brother, Max, started and ran The Sports Shop for 49 years in downtown Vicksburg until retiring.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Martha Martin Klaus and Florence Goodsell Klaus; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam D. Klaus Sr.; one son, Sylvain S. Klaus; one daughter, Stacey K. Klaus; and two brothers, Sam D. Klaus Jr. and Max K. Klaus.

Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Marion Klaus of Salt Lake City, Utah; three sons, Wade A. Selby of Pottsville, Ark., Lee M. Selby of Greenville and Brian S. Selby of Redondo Beach, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert N. Armstrong officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Cowan, Kyle Klaus, Keith Klaus, Greg Sellers, Hunt Gilliland and Randall Eubanks.

Honorary pallbearers will be V.O. Martin, L.H. Martin, Bill Martin, Joe Aaron, Robert Ferries, John Nye, John Knight and Ken Klaus.

Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel Methodist Church, Phoenix Road, Phoenix, MS 39040 or to a favorite charity.

Amy L. Nicholls Richmond

Amy L. Nicholls Richmond died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 50.

Mrs. Richmond was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was the daughter of the late Hugh and Mary Dabney Nicholls. She worked as a school teacher for 15 years at Bovina Elementary and three years at Beechwood and Redwood Elementary schools. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elois and Fred Dabney and Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Nicholls.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Richmond of Vicksburg; two sons, James Douglas Sevier III of Monroe and Kenneth Matthew Richmond of Vicksburg; a daughter, Dana Sevier Ellis of Delhi; three sisters, Dabney Nicholls Haugh of Paducah, Ky., Kristi Nicholls Tedder of Natchez and Wendy Nicholls Wilhoit of Midway, Ky.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chan de Anaya officiating, Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon Thursday until the hour of services at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Trussell, Kevin Sharpe, Justin Ellis, Joe Tom Jr., Brad Watson and Russell Chisolm.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Richmond and Robert Solis.

Charles A. Thornton Jr.

EDWARDS – Charles A. &#8220Rock Jr.” Thornton Jr. died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007. He was 60.

Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Thornton Sr., Vernestine Evans Butler and Alcorn Butler Sr.; one sister, Mary Lane Brown; and five brothers, Zander Butler, Michael Butler, Percy Lee Butler, George Butler and Willie James Thornton.

He is survived by three daughters, Regina Pate, AnJanette Thornton and Audrey Thornton; four sisters; four brothers; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Mark M.B. Church in Edwards with the Rev. Jerry Collier, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home.
