Shannon Oleson Davis

Shannon Oleson Davis, the infant son of Justine Oleson and Shannon Davis, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Woman’s Hospital in Jackson.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Donald and Norma Piazza of Vicksburg; his maternal grandfather, Howard Oleson of Oakland, Calif.; his maternal great-grandparents, Charles Louis and Joyce Piazza of Hallsville, Texas; his paternal grandparents, Bill and Becky Rainer of Vicksburg and Don and Susie Davis of Port Gibson; and his paternal great-grandmother, Betty Davis of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, 100 St. Michael Place, Vicksburg, MS 39180, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105.

Count Guy Evans Sr.

Count Guy Evans Sr. died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 92.

Born in Oklahoma, Mr. Evans had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1944. He had retired from Waterways Experiment Station. He was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Rexie Evans; his wife, Leona Evans; and a daughter, Glenda Lackey.

He is survived by his son, Count Evans Jr. of Monroeville, Ala; three sisters, Lois Malone and Doris Brooks, both of Rogers, Ark., and Lorene Huckstep of Oakmulgee, Okla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 today at Norris Funeral Home in Bayminette, Ala.

Visitation will be from 1 today until the service. Burial will be in Stockton, Ala.

Charles Earl Sanders

Burial for Charles Earl Sanders was Thursday at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Mr. Sanders died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 48.

Born and reared in Mayersville, Mr. Sanders had retired from the City of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Savannah Sanders; three brothers, Jimmy Sanders, Willie Sanders and Richard Sanders; and one sister, Mae Catherine Sanders.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Sanders of Vicksburg; one son, Raymond Harvey; five stepchildren, Preston Miller, Danny Miller, Henrietta Miller, Darlene Miller and Teretha Miller, all of Vicksburg; three brothers, Charlie Sanders of Rolling Fork, Walter Sanders of Kansas City, Mo., and Andrew Sanders of Washington; three sisters, Ruby McClain of Lambert, Mary Sanders of Gary, Ind., and Linda Waller of Vidalia, La.; and other relatives.
