Alton Glen Carlisle Sr.
Alton Glen Carlisle Sr. passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at River Region Medical Center of Vicksburg. Funeral services are Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Baldwin-Lee Pearl.
Visitation will be today from 2 until 8 p.m. at Baldwin-Lee Pearl. Interment and graveside services will follow at Flora Hills Memory Gardens of Pearl.
He was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church, past deacon at Flowood Baptist Church, member of the Rankin County Historical Society, Century Club of the Entergy Retirees, 32nd degree Mason, Order of the Eastern Star and crew member of the LSMR409 Navy Rocket Ship. He spent his retirement years working on his farm, Thunder Ridge, in Smith County, where he was also the founder of the Thunder Ridge Chapel.
In his post retirement, he was a craftsman, woodworker, builder and enjoyed working on the land and various projects being the “handyman.” Life for him was filled with family and friends and love for animals and a joy of riding his tractor.
Survivors include wife, Sammie Jo Adcock Carlisle of Brandon; son, Alton Glen Carlisle Jr., of Brandon; daughter, Candy Carlisle Derivaux and husband, John Allen Derivaux Jr., of Vicksburg; sisters, Wanda Benton and husband, George, of Pearl, and Lavern Myers of New Orleans; grandchildren, Townsend, Mattie Carlyle, Molly Jo, Stratton and Hampton Derivaux; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy George Carlisle and Rube Purser Carlisle.
L.C. Dotson
L.C. Dotson died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 70.
Mr. Dotson was retired from International Paper and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was also a member of Bright Morning Star M.B. Church.
He was a member of Paragon Lodge No. 7 F & A.M., Worthy Patron Rose of Sharon Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and Tyner-Ford Post No. 213 American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Q.C. Dotson.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Robinson Dotson of Vicksburg; a son, James Dotson of Birmingham; a daughter, Linda Dotson of Leland; his mother, Mary D. Dotson of Vicksburg; a sister, Marjarie D. Hopkins of Denver; five grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and others.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Isom Pugh Jr.
Isom Pugh Jr., 70, of Vicksburg died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was born July 23, 1937, to Isom Pugh Sr., and Mary Pugh in Spanish Fort. A graduate of Holly Bluff High School and Hinds Junior College, he was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Pugh owned and operated Quality Pest Control for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Church of God Prophecy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, high school athletics and loved being “Papaw.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edward Pugh; and a sister, Pauline Turner.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Pugh and wife, Tina, of Hazlehurst, and Larry Pugh and wife, Deborah, of Tupelo; a sister, W. Dee Kroon and her husband, John A. Kroon, of Maude, Texas; and two grandchildren, Lauren and Courtney Pugh of Tupelo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John A. Kroon officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bubba Little, Calvin Pugh, Bill Moore, Otto Moore, James Stevens and Guy Italiano Jr.
Helen Grace Sanders
Helen Grace Sanders died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 67.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, she was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Ms. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Ethel Sanders, and a sister, Ethel Louise Sanders.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond M. Sanders of Clearwater, Fla., and Brian K. Sanders of Vicksburg; a sister, Wilma Sanders Reed of Los Angeles; a stepsister, Julia W. Smith of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Charles Tucker
Services for Charles Tucker will be at 1 p.m. Monday at New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church with the Rev. William Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Tucker died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at his home. He was 74.
He was a member of New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church and retired from the City of Vicksburg Water and Gas Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Angie Tucker; two brothers, Eugene Tucker and Otis Tucker; and a son, Johnnie Lee Tucker.
Survivors include his wife, Lessie Clara Tucker of Vicksburg; three sons, Charles Tucker and Archie Williams, both of Midland, Texas, and Michael Tucker of Vicksburg; a stepson, Larry Tribble of Vicksburg; four daughters, Brenda Williams Warren and Debra Sue Williams, both of Midland, and Shelia Tribble and Diane Jenkins Graves, both of Vicksburg; one brother, L.T. Tucker of Vicksburg; four sisters, Willie B. Anderson, Doris Tucker and Louise Tucker-Middlebrooks, all of St. Louis, Mo., and River Lee Perkins of Vicksburg; and aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Rebecca Moore Wilbert
Rebecca Moore Wilbert died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at her Hermanville home. She was 82.
Mrs. Wilbert was preceded in death by her parents, Ezekial and Anna Ferguson Moore; her husband, Robert Wilbert; and a grandson, Ulyos Tolliver Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Windmon of Hermanville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Horace McBride officiating. Burial will follow at Willis Cemetery.
