Troy Eugene Crew
ATLANTA, Texas — Troy Eugene Crew died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, in Texarkana, Texas. He was 70.
Born in Bastrop, La., Mr. Crew was employed by International Paper for 40 years. He was in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956, serving with a tank battalion in Germany. He was a master mason and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bastrop.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Shelby Crew; and a grandson, Troy Ellis Tillotson.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Crew of Atlanta, Texas; a daughter, Lisa Tillotson and husband, Ellis, of Vicksburg; two sons, Tony Crew and wife, Tammy, of Mars Hill, N.C., and Scott Crew and wife, Missy, of Redwater, Texas; his mother, Eunice Evans Crew of Bastrop; three brothers, Joe Shelby Crew Jr. and wife, Ann Kemp Crew, of Bastrop, Jerry A. Crew and wife, Carol Ann Reynolds Crew, of Idabel, Okla., and Donald Keith Crew and wife, Diane Butler Crew, of Denton, Texas; and five grandchildren, Sidney Derek Tillotson, Michael Anthony Crew, Jacob Ryan Crew, Katie Lane Crew and Karlie Alyce Crew.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Karl Bradford officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Annise Davenport
Annise Davenport died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was 79.
Born in Fitler, Mr. Davenport moved to Vicksburg in 1956. He retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Olivia Davenport; and a sister, Elizabeth Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Davenport; 15 children, Annize Valentine Davenport of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Olivia Lewis of Chicago, Thomas Davenport, George Davenport, Ellen Carter, Andrew Davenport, Fred Davenport, Lester Davenport, Gary Davenport and Gabriel Davenport, all of Vicksburg, Lucy Moore of Chicago, Marilyn Steel of Detroit, Otis Davenport of Stockton, Calif., Viola Hudson of Memphis and Jerry Davenport of Fayetteville, N.C.; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Celeste Adler Ford
Celeste Adler Ford passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 78.
Mrs. Ford was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg, a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy and a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and served as chairman of the Bereavement Committee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. “Buster” Ford; her parents, Adolf and Clara Anderson Adler; and a granddaughter, Leslie Ford.
She is survived by her sons, William A. “Bill” Ford of Vicksburg and Donald F. “Don” Ford and wife, Kathy, of Madison; and her daughters, Mary Celeste Crowder and husband, Jerry, of Richmond, Va., and Karla Ford of Jackson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Patrick Farrell with burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Frank Campbell, Florian Yoste, Michael Lee, Michael Ford, Paul Banchetti, Jimmy Schultz, Bill Yoste and Kenny Crowder.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Roesch, Bill Bellan and Dr. Walter Johnson Jr.
Memorials may be made to Vicksburg Catholic School or St. Paul Catholic Church.
Martin T. Hebler
Martin T. Hebler died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 62.
Born in Vicksburg, he was the son of the late John Martin Hebler and Dodie Elizabeth Yates Hebler. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School Class of 1963 and the University of Southern Mississippi, where he received a bachelor of science degree.
Mr. Hebler was a retired mathematician with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers — Waterways Experiment Station. In 2005, he retired as a sergeant major (E9) with the Mississippi Army National Guard — 168th Engineer Group. Active in community affairs, he was a former Little League coach and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his good friend Lennell Clanton.
Mr. Hebler was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 898, and a communicant of St. Michael Catholic Church, where he was a former Eucharistic minister.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Patrick Hebler.
He is survived by his wife, Alice McNamara Hebler of Vicksburg; a daughter, Theresa M. Hebler of Jackson; a grandson, Kegan Leo of Jackson; one sister, Patty Gray and husband, Richard, of Houston, Texas; and two brothers, Mike Hebler and wife, Pat, of Atlanta and John Hebler and wife, June, of Vicksburg.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father P.J. Curley, pastor, as celebrant. Burial with full military service will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Riles Funeral Home with the Bereavement Knights of Columbus prayers at 6:30 p.m. and a wake service at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will be at St. Michael Catholic Church from 12:30 p.m. Thursday until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Doug Brister, George Callen, Lennell Clanton, Mike McNamara, Richard Grey and Colt Nichols.

Mary Sandra May
Mary Sandra May died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at her home in Dallas. She was 63.
Ms. May was born Jan. 11, 1944 in Natchez, the daughter of Ina Taylor and the late J.A. May.
She was an artist, inventor and entrepreneur. She opened the Charm Beauty Salon in Natchez and operated it until she married Johnny Jabour in 1975 and moved to Vicksburg, where he lived. Here, in addition to being a wife and mother, she worked as a real estate broker.
She moved to Dallas in 1996 to continue her real estate career and was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church and the Plano Senior Center.
In addition to her mother, who lives in Natchez, she is survived by a daughter, Jere’ Jabour of Vicksburg and three sisters; Elizabeth May of Jackson, Gwen McManus of Natchez and Babette Cotton of Las Vegas.
Visitation will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Grove Chapel on Washington Street. A memorial service under the direction of her friend and fellow Realtor, Bobby Polk, will follow at 6:30.
Honorary pallbearers will be Remy Massey, Glen McManus, Hank McManus, Freddy Mark, Mike Bailey, David Goude and Jack Holland.

Thelma D. Whiten-Bell
Services for Thelma D. Whiten-Bell will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Whiten-Bell died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 45.
She was a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church and of the Lupus Foundation.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lee Thelma Whiten; and two brothers, Rickey Whiten and Levern Whiten.
Survivors include one son, Mack M. Bell III of Vicksburg; her father, Curlie Whiten Sr. of Vicksburg; one brother, Curlie Whiten Jr. of Vicksburg; two sisters, Maurice Whiten of Irving, Texas, and Debra Whiten of Detroit; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
