Mrs. Myrtle C. Pell, 73, died Oct. 13, 2007, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be 5-8 tonight at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Strong Hope Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Pell was a native of Natchez. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Frank Pell Sr.; daughters, Linda Storey and husband, Billy, of Vicksburg and Cathy Bauer and husband, Terry, of Crystal Springs; sons, Robert “Bobby” Pell and wife, Laveda, of Vicksburg, Jimmy Pell and wife, Eugenia, of Pearl, and Albert Pell and companion, Frances Galey, of Vicksburg; brother, Wayne Campbell of Fayette; sisters, Rena Thorpe of Natchez, Agnes Tingle of Columbia, La., and Geraldine Harrison of Natchez; grandsons, Sonny Pell, Spencer Pell, Gene Pell, Eric Pell, Travis Pell, Christopher Hobkirk, David Hobkirk and Joseph Bauer; granddaughters, Courtney Pell and Niki Hobkirk; and great-granddaughter, Stephanie Pell.

Herbert D. Smith

Herbert D. Smith died today, Oct. 16, 2007, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 73.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired welder of PENNCO. He was a member of Zion Traveler’s M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Augusta Ozias and Willie Smith Ozias; a son, Ray Michael Cosby; a brother, Sidney Smith; and maternal grandparents, Nannie Parker and Bunk Parker.

He is survived by his wife, Annie L. Cosby Smith of Vicksburg; six sons, David Cosby, Duncan Smith, Ernest Smith, Herbert Aaron Smith, Brian Smith and the Rev. Troy Truly, all of Vicksburg; five daughters, Vanessa Wright, Carol Howard, Veronica Kilcrease, Erica Smith and Jewel Truly, all of Vicksburg; a brother, James Smith of Chicago; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Ashley of Richmon, Calif., and Willie Mae Smith of Vicksburg; and 39 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Joan Fisher Sullivan

TALLULAH — Joan Fisher Sullivan died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 72.

Mrs. Sullivan was born in Lake Providence and had lived in Madison and East Carroll parishes most of her life. She was a member of Melbourne Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Jordan Harris of Tallulah, Jerry Harris of Richmond, and Allen Harris of Garfield, Ark.; four sisters, Shirley Cramer and Sandra Cramer, both of Garfield, Gara Dukes of Richmond and Teresa Hopkins of Tallulah; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah. Burial will follow at Epps Cemetery in Epps, La.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Phyllis Kaye Williams

TALLULAH — Phyllis Kaye Williams died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at her home in Tallulah. She was 48.

Born in Madison Parish, Mrs. Williams was a lifelong resident of Tallulah. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and served as secretary for attorney E.H. Lancaster Jr.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Holmes; and her husbands, Andy Henson and Allen Williams.

Survivors include her mother, Bonnie Holmes of Tallulah; one daughter, Laura Williams of Tallulah; two sons, Michael Henson Sr. and Phillip Henson, both of Tallulah; a sister, Karen Cobb of Tallulah; three brothers, Mark Holmes and Shelby Holmes, both of Tallulah, and Darryl Holmes of Delhi, La.; four grandchildren; and friends, including Harmon Stockman of Tallulah.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parkview Baptist Church in Tallulah. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the church.
