Harrison Minor Jr.
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Services for Harrison Minor Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Gardner officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Thursday until the service.
Mr. Minor died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was 63.
A native of Redwood, Mr. Minor was a resident of Brooklyn. He graduated from Rosa A. Temple High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelene Minor; and his father, Harrison Minor Sr.
Survivors include three daughters, Joy Minor Spencer, Sharon Jennette and Aletha Jennette, all of Brooklyn; three sons, Harrison Minor III, Corey Minor and Craig Minor, all of Brooklyn; his mother, Margaret Franklin of Vicksburg; four sisters, Dorothy Minor Holmes, Kathy Minor and Valerie Minor, all of Detroit, and Margaret Ethel Smith of Vicksburg; four brothers, Johnny Minor, Kevin Minor and Mark Minor, all of Detroit, and Thomas Minor of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dr. Henry Lee Parker Sr.
Dr. H. L. Parker Sr. died Friday, October 12, 2007, at River Region Medical Center, in Vicksburg. He was 94.
Dr. Parker was a graduate of Lang-ston University and Oklahoma State University. He served 25 years as head of the Biology Department at Alcorn State University, executive secretary of the General State Baptist Convention and vice president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He served as pastor for St. Paul M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vertie Mae Parker; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Parker; a son, the Rev. Henry Lee Parker Jr. of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Gloria Penn of Utah and Verdie Mae Parker of Los Angeles; six stepchildren, Ellen M. Wilson, Yancy May, Jeannettee Johnston, Delanda Parker, Elvin Parker and Vergie B. Parker, all of Washington and Maryland areas; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 1 until 4:30 today at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, 208 Walnut St., Port Gibson and from 6 until 8 tonight at Alcorn State University Chapel.
