James Colon Clark

WINONA — James Colon Clark died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at his home in Winona. He was 86.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Clark received a Purple Heart for wounds received during his service in the European Theatre. He was a member of Kilmichael Methodist Church in Kilmichael.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Robbie Jean Clark; a daughter, Cathy Clark Davis; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Smith Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Clark of Winona; a daughter, Peggy Clark Blackburn of Columbus; a stepdaughter, Bobbi Brantley, and her husband, Paul, of Greenville; a son, James H. Clark, and his wife, Joanne, of Vicksburg; a sister, Dorothy Clark Hobson of Starkville; a brother, Ernest Clark of Kilmichael; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Winona with the Rev. Dan Beardain officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. Visitation will be from 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Kilmichael Methodist Church Building Fund, the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.

Charles A. Sanders

Charles A. Sanders died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007. He was 81.

Born in Claiborne County, Mr. Sanders was the son of the late Clarence Alane and Ona Davis Irby Sanders. He attended Pattison Elementary School and served in the Navy from 1944 until 1946. He worked as a logger for International Paper and shipbuilder for LeTourneau. Having retired from the City of Vicksburg in 1988, he worked with the fire department for 20 years and water and gas department for 11 years. He was a member of VFW Post No. 10734 and was vice commander from 2003 until 2004.

Mr. Sanders is survived by a daughter, Cathy Williamson, and her husband, Robert, of Cecilia, Ky.; a son, Mark Sanders, and his wife, Cynthia, of Henderson, N.C.; four brothers, Presley A. Sanders of Pearl, Paul Everett Sanders of Kansas, David Sanders of Oklahoma and Bobby Sanders of Vicksburg; three sisters, Martha Stagg of Pascagoula, Lynn Hudson of Birmingham, Ala., and Ona Gertrude of Mobile, Ala.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 this morning at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with John Marks Sanders and the Rev. Doug Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Brian L. Williamson, Jason S. Williamson, Kevin D. Williamson, John Marks Sanders, David McNemar and Tom Hughes.

Honorary pallbearers will be current and former employees of the City of Vicksburg Fire Department and employees of the City of Vicksburg.

Robert Williams

DUNCAN — Robert Williams died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola. He was 62.

Byas Funeral Home in Shelby has charge of arrangements.
