Margarette Jean Edwards
Margarette Jean Edwards died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 64.
Born in Bentonia, Mrs. Edwards had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 49 years. For 33 years, she was active in the ministry of the Jesus Name Apostolic Church with her late husband, Elder Bobby Edwards.
She was a member of the Vicksburg Apostolic Church, where she was affectionately called the “Grandmother” of the church and was active in all church activities and fundraising.
She is survived by three daughters, Billie Jean Anglin and Winnie E. “Winkie” Hall, both of Vicksburg, and Mittie Darlene Ballard of Byram; two sons, Bobby Edwards Jr. of North Little Rock, Ark., and Raymond C. Edwards of Vicksburg; her mother, Hazel E. Campbell of Florence; one sister, Sib VanDierdonk of Kansas City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Bobby Edwards; one son, Clinton Ray Edwards; her father, the Rev. Ray E. Campbell; and two brothers, James Ray Campbell and Thomas E. Campbell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vicksburg Apostolic Church, 2750 Mississippi 27 South, with the Revs. John Parks, Raymond Suttles and Bryan Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 10 tonight at the church.
Services will be under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ben Anglin, David Anglin, Johnathan Anglin, Samuel Anglin, William Day, J.C. Edwards III, William Edwards and Andrew Edwards.
Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Edwards, Bobby Edwards, J.C. Edwards, Don Anglin, Daniel Anglin, David Ballard and Randy Hall.
Michael David Scallions
Michael David Scallions died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was 26.
Born in Borger, Texas, Mr. Scallions had lived in Vicksburg most of his life. He attended Vicksburg High School and was a tankerman for Delaware Marine Company.
He is survived by his mother, Lora Applin; his father, Mike Scallions; a brother, Brian Scallions; his fiance, Tameka Slade; and other relatives.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Northside Baptist Church. Visitation will be before the memorial service at the church.
Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Robert Lee Wright
FLORA — Robert Lee Wright of Flora died Saturday Nov. 24, 2007, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was 79.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg with the Rev. Michael Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Yokena Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home.
Mr. Wright was born on Oct. 2, 1928, in Warren County to Charles Lee Wright and Verna Taylor Wright. He worked for many years as an area distributor for The Clarion-Ledger. He was preceded in death by his parents and three grandchildren, Brian, Brittany and Brad Winterstein.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Wright of Flora; his sister, Pat Jackson of Vicksburg; his daughters, Charlotte Kobert and husband Churck of Gibson, Pa., Carol Winterstein and husband Earl of Florence, Linda Hollowell of Vicksburg; his sons, Robert Wayne Wright and wife Wanda of Magee, Joel Dwight Wright and Rickey Hollowell and wife Marlene both of Vicksburg; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
