Margaret Chriss
Margaret Chriss died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 78.
Mrs. Chriss was a member of Pleasant Valley M.B. Church, where she served on the mother board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Chriss; her parents, James and Lettie Smith; two brothers, James Smith and Claude Smith; and four sisters, Mary Whitley, Katie Miller, Gertrude Carpenter and Lucretia Ennis.
Survivors include four daughters, Deloris Lott, Emma Swartz, Gladys Ross and Mary Turner, all of Vicksburg; four sons, Carl Smith of Vicksburg, Caldonia Dilworth of Grand Rapids, Mich., Charles Chriss of Detroit and Samuel Brown of Baton Rouge; one brother, Jimmy Dunn of Seaside, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Floree Brinkley Foster and Bertha Mixon of Vicksburg and Robert Lee Smith of Las Vegas.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Herbert H. Wilkins
TALLULAH — Herbert H. Wilkins died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at his home in Tallulah. He was 64.
Mr. Wilkins was an aircraft mechanic and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 308 of Tallulah. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Whittington Wilkins of Tallulah; one son, Justin Wilkins of Vernal, Utah; two sisters, Carolyn Doyle of Jackson and Bobbie Clingan of Donaldson, Ark.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Newellton with the Rev. Larry Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cannon, David Vinson, Michael Vinson, Robert Hugh Dozier, John Robert Gaumnitz and Freddy Gaumnitz.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Wallace, Aron Wallace, Brad Wallace, Kirby Fortenberry, William Yerger Jr. and Bubba Nettles.
