Florence M. Bourn

Florence M. Bourn died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 83.

A survivor of Hurricane Katrina, Mrs. Bourn had moved to Vicksburg from Jefferson, La., in August 2005. She was a resident of Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Bourn; her parents, Joseph F. Hosemann Sr. and Cecilia Raba Hosemann; two sisters, Dorothy H. Field and Mary H. Tucker; and two brothers, Joseph F. Hosemann Jr. and E.J. “Johnnie” Hosemann.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara C. Bourn of Vicksburg; two sisters, Helen Hosemann Walker of Vicksburg and Ernestine H. Mc-Broom of Gainesville, Ga.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of the service.

Mary C. Douglas

Services for Mary C. Douglas will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at King David Baptist Church No. 2 with the Rev. Johnnie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Douglas died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Douglas retired as a cook from Maxwell’s Restaurant. She was a member of King David M.B. Church No. 2, where she served on the mother board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Douglas II; her parents, Dan and Mattie Thomas Curry; three brothers, Tom Curry, Jessie Curry and Leroy Curry; two sisters, Elnora Curry and Hattie Thomas; and two daughters, Ernestine Douglas and Jessie Douglas.

She is survived by three sons, Roosevelt Douglas of Los Angeles and William Bell Douglas III and Ernest “Grit” Douglas, both of Vicksburg; three daughters, Mattie D. Wilson and Janie Douglas, both of Vicksburg, and Hattie Douglas of Los Angeles; three brothers, Alexander Curry of Pittsburg, Calif., Harry Curry of Lancaster, Calif., and Johnny Curry of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Anna Tyler of Natchez and Kathleen Curry of California; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Willie Lee Jones

Willie Lee Jones died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 85.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ on Mission 66.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Jones; her parents, John Island and Alberta Catron; a daughter, Mary Frances Cook; and a grandson, Donnie Jones.

She is survived by grandsons whom she reared, Danny Jones of Vicksburg, Terry Shaw of Chicago and Michael Shaw of Alabama; granddaughters, Jackie Shaw of Wisconsin, Michelle Taylor, Uricola Shaw and Shaniece Shaw, all of Chicago; and other relatives, including Violet Bolden and Dan Ethel Edwards, both of Vicksburg, and Johnnie Taylor of Chicago.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

G. David Reid

G. David Reid died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at his residence. He was 53.

Mr. Reid was born in Jackson and moved to Vicksburg when he was 1 month old. He was a 1972 graduate of Warren Central High School and attended Hinds Community College and Mississippi College. He was an electrical technician with various companies and, at the time of his death, was an employee of IGT. Mr. Reid loved his family, music, movies, animals and laughter. He was devoted to his faith.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bane Reid of Vicksburg; a daughter, Erica Reid Gerdes and her husband, Fuzzy, of Chicago; a son, Christopher Reid and his wife, Katie, of Columbia, S.C.; his mother, Norma Reid of Vicksburg; a sister, Susan Mahan of Vevay, Ind.; and two brothers, Carl Reid of Flowood and Kyle Reid of Hattiesburg.

He was preceded in death by his father, George L. Reid.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Biedenharn, pastor of the Byhalia United Methodist Church in Byhalia, officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Riles Funeral Home.

Corine Wheeler

Services for Corine Wheeler were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church with Pastor Gregory Butler officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Wheeler died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 58.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Corine Polk and John Ross; a sister, Roberta Nason; and a brother, William Barcus.

A homemaker, Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church.

She is survived by two sons, Willie Wheeler Jr. and Jerry Wheeler, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Brenda Williams of Vicksburg and Gloria Royal of Jackson; four brothers, Jimmie Lee McClung of Germany, Johnell Ross of California, Otis Ross of Vicksburg and Tommie C. McClung of Florida; a sister, Ollie Mae Harris of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Roosevelt Wesley, Artis Williams, Celestine Ross and Tommieceina Harris, all of Vicksburg.

Janie Mae Cook Williams

Services for Janie Mae Cook Williams will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greater Mount Olive M.B. Church with the Rev. Douglas Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 until 8 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at her home. She was 78.

A homemaker, Mrs. Williams was a member and usher at Greater Mount Olive M.B. Church. She was a member of Christian Home Society No. 14.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie F. Williams; a brother, Ernest Cook; a sister, Stella Cason; her father, Willie Cook Sr.; and her mother, Willie B. Cook Ellis.

Survivors include a son, Tommy “Cook” Williams of Vicksburg; three daughters, Willie Mae “Hazel” Phillips, Gracie Mae Williams and Evelyn Williams, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, James Ellis of Chicago and Willie Cook Jr. of Key West, Fla.; five sisters, Evelyn Gray and Josephine Ellis, both of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary Ellis and Juanita Ellis, both of Baltimore, Md., and Barbara Jones of Vicksburg; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
