Lynette Loflin Nybo

Lynette Loflin Nybo died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian. She was 86.

Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Nybo was the daughter of the late Edgar C. Loflin Sr. and Della Griffin Loflin. She was a former resident of Vicksburg and Bay St. Louis and had lived in Meridian for two years.

Mrs. Nybo was a graduate of Carr Central High School and attended Millsaps College and Meridian Junior College. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Bay St. Louis.

She is survived by her husband, Lelyn Warren Nybo Sr. of Meridian; two daughters, Valeria Elaine Nybo of Sylva, N.C., and Cheryl Lynn Masters of Memphis; three sons, Lelyn Warren Nybo Jr. of Columbus, Edgar Gilbert Nybo of Bay St. Louis and Stephen Alan Nybo of Starkville; a brother, E.C. Loflin Jr. of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren.

Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

David Sanders

Services for David “Sandy” Sanders will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clover Valley M.B. Church with the Rev. Johnny Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Second Union M.B. Church. Visitation is from 1 until 6 tonight at the Williams Funeral Service.

Mr. Sanders died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007. He was 79.

Mr. Sanders was a deacon at Clover Valley M.B. Church. He was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fannie Gibson Sanders and Luchard Sanders; two sons, David Sanders and Michael Sanders; one daughter, Marchia Sanders; six sisters; and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Corine Sanders of Vicksburg; five sons, Adrian Sanders and Elza Sanders, both of Vicksburg, Lucious Sanders of Richmond, Calif., Cheynne Sanders of Weed, Calif., and Edmond James of California; two daughters, Deborah Anderson of Sacramento, Calif., and Daisy Reed of Vicksburg; one brother, Clarence Sanders Sr. of Rockford, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Annie Taylor, and members of the Sanders, Gibson, Baylot, Vandaberry, Downey, Neal and Taylor families.

Samuel Clayton Whitehead

CHOUDRANT, La. — Samuel Clayton Whitehead died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007. He was 85.

Mr. Whitehead was the son of the late Oscar and Susie Whitehead.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Whitehead; and three brothers, Cleo Whitehead, Clyde Whitehead and Glen Whitehead; and two sisters, Catherine McGrew and Linda Grant.

He is survived by a daughter, Joyce Mulkey of Vicksburg; four sons, Sandy Whitehead, Ernest Whitehead and Alfred Whitehead, all of Vicksburg, and Michael Clayton Whitehead of Los Alamos, N.M.; the mother of his children, Shirley Faye Whitehead of Vicksburg; three sisters, Mary Brown and Faye Hale, both of Bossier City, and Ruby Logan of Magnolia; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, La., has charge of arrangements.

Pauline Kelly Williams

Services for Pauline “Buck” Kelly Williams will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Rock of Ages M.B. Church with the Rev. Michael Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home and Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mrs. Williams died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 58.

Born in Clarksdale, Mrs. Williams was a homemaker. She was a member and former usher at New Rock of Ages M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Jr. and Earline Richards Kelly; a son, Willie James Harris; a daughter, Mozella Harris; one brother, Ruben Kelly; and four sisters, Christine Promise, Lucille Jones, Susie Bell Norris Brown and Josephine Turner.

Survivors include her husband, R.B. Williams of Vicksburg; five sons, William Edwards, Christopher Harris, Shirray Harris, Shawn Harris and Justin Harris, all of Vicksburg; a stepson, Jimmy Lee Williams of Del City, Va.; one daughter, May Lee Harris of Vicksburg; four stepdaughters, Diana Shumpert of Starkville and Martha Lee Williams, Mary W. King and Joyann Marie Williams, all of Vicksburg; one brother, Charles Kelly of Vicksburg; one sister, Frankie Mae Hall of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
