Sam O. Bowman Jr.
Services for Sam O. Bowman Jr. will be at noon Saturday at Lake-view Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. A.L. Hines officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bowman died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 86.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Bowman served in the Army. He attended Warren County Public Schools and retired as an electrician from Anderson-Tully. He was of the Baptist faith. He served as chaplain of Sunshine Lodge No. 99.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis Bowman Sr. and Beverly Meeks Bowman; a brother, William C. Bowman Sr.; and two sisters, Minnie Bowman and Ruby Bowman.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Bowman of Vicksburg; six daughters, Denice Devine, Jacqueline Brown Battle, Andrea Jenkins and Felicia Kelly, all of Vicksburg, and Willie Mae Younger and Mattie Sims, both of Gary, Ind.; a son, Augusta Brown of Vicksburg; one sister, Gleneva Flowers of Lynwood, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and friends and other relatives, including Bertha Davenport, James Ringo, Henry Ringo and members of the Price and Sims families.
