Jonathan Tremaine Bruce
Jonathan Tremaine Bruce died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, as the result of a gunshot wound. He was 21.
Mr. Bruce, a native of Vicksburg, had lived in Jackson for the past four years. He attended Vicksburg High School, where he was a member of the track and football teams.
He was a member of Mount Pisgah M.B. Church.
Mr. Bruce was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Annie Jo Smith.
He is survived by one son, Javon Bruce of Jackson; his parents, Dexter Andra “Mitchell” Smith and Betty Ann Bruce Smith, both of Jackson; two brothers, Mark Bruce of Houston, Texas, and Dexter Deandra Smith of Vicksburg; one sister, Augustine Brown of Vicksburg; his paternal grandparents, J.P. and Hattie Smith of Vicksburg; and his maternal grandmother, Barbara Ross of Jackson; and other relatives, including the Smith, Johnson, Shelby, Robinson, Davis and Kelly families of Vicksburg.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
James Albert Dukes Jr.
JACKSON — Services for James Albert Dukes Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with Josef Kevin Hardwick officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 until 7 today with family present from 6 until 7 p.m.
Mr. Dukes died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 65.
Born in Pascagoula, Mr. Dukes was a former resident of Detroit. He retired from Daimler-Chrysler as a cost analyst and was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Detroit. He was a veteran of the Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Athelstein Poindexter Dukes; and two brothers, Larry Foster Dukes and Darrell Dukes.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Sims Dukes of Jackson; one son, Zenithe K. Dukes; two brothers, Charles Dukes of Detroit and Ronnell Dukes of Cincinnati, Ohio; four sisters, Harriet Dukes Fudge, Hope Dukes-McGee, Sheila Smith and Pamela Dukes Russell, all of Detroit; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, aunts, an uncle, cousins, other relatives and friends, including members of the Cross, Hardwick, Sims, Smith and Price families.
Regina M. Dunigan
Regina M. Dunigan died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 78.
Born in Franklin County, Mrs. Dunigan had lived in Vicksburg for the past 50 years. She was a homemaker and a member of New Vision Family Worship Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert C. Dunigan; three sisters, Myrtle Cotton, Betty Arnold and Loraine Touchstone; and two brothers, Carl B. Holland and Owen Holland.
Survivors include three sons, Albert E. Dunigan of Ridgeland, Billy W. Dunigan of Memphis and Daniel C. Dunigan of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Pat Anderson of Allen, Texas; one sister, Charlene Ezell of Natchez; and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Vision Family Worship Center with the Rev. Rick McAlister officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Pallbearers will be Billy Dunigan, Stephen Dunigan, Tony Smithy, Teddy Crotwell, Ernest Berney and Nathan Rowland.
Eliza Louise Washington Ford Grissom
Services for Eliza Louise “Doll” Washington Ford Grissom will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service with Jonathan Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Grissom died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.
Mrs. Grissom was a member of Morning Star Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she served on the mother board.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Virginia Washington; three brothers, Andrew Lee Washington, Joe Washington Jr. and Robert Felton; one sister, Sarah Berry; and a son, Herbert Lee Washington.
Survivors include five sons, James Grissom of Jackson and George Ford, Ronnie Ford, Charles Grissom and Zane Grissom, all of Vicksburg; six daughters, Connie Curtis, Lecie Thomas, Naya Thomas and Twylan James, all of Vicksburg, Debra Ward of Jackson and Lowrain Knox of Austin, Texas; 28 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nephews, friends and other relatives, including members of the Bell, Berry, Cox and Williams families of Vicksburg.
Ruth Sullivan McGraw
Ruth Sullivan McGraw died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 83.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. McGraw was the daughter of the late James Henry and Alma Catherine Bell Sullivan. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and its Altar Society.
She retired as a secretary for the production superintendent at Anderson-Tully Co. and also as an insurance clerk from R.C. Wilkerson Company.
She is survived by her husband, Jones McGraw of Vicksburg; one daughter, Laura Parkin of Oxford; one son, Garnet Van Norman of Vicksburg; two stepsons, Bobby McGraw of Brandon and Bill McGraw of Lexington, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Patricia Kurts of Huntsville, Ala., and Nancy Lasseter of Amsterdam; and 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the service.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Gray, Bobby McGraw, Bill McGraw, David Hosemann, William Fulcher and Bubba Rainer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Gerache, Sam Lusco, Dr. William Wooten, Jay Ratliff, Bob Shackelford and Walter Ragsdale.

Malcolm B. Montgomery Sr.
Malcolm B. “Mac” Montgomery Sr. died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at his home. He was 89.
Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Montgomery was the son of the late Otis Charles Montgomery and Mary Elaine McKenna Montgomery. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps and six years in the Naval Reserve.
He retired as chief of the Planning and Control Branch with the Mississippi River Commission, Mississippi Valley Division, with 40 years of service.
Mr. Montgomery was a member of the Vicksburg Country Club and the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Morrison Montgomery; a sister; and a brother.
He is survived by two sons, Malcolm B. “Mac” Montgomery Jr. of Vicksburg and Robert Putnam Montgomery of Slidell, La.; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Dr. Robert Ford officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Friday until the service.
Pallbearers will be George Hunt, Jim Davis, Bill Caldwell, Bobby Hannon, Richard Marcus and Gene Allen.

Bill Stevens
ANGUILLA — Bill Stevens died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Yazoo City. He was 82.
A lifelong resident of Anguilla, Mr. Stevens was a retired farmer. He was a veteran of the Marines, serving in World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Stevens in 1985; and his parents, Douglas and Margie Stevens.
He is survived by two daughters, Jan Ward and Brenda Stevens, both of Anguilla; one brother, Aline Stevens of Carbondale, Ill.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Glen Warrington officiating. Burial will follow at Golden Link Cemetery in Anguilla.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home in Rolling Fork.
