Eunice T. Gargaro

Mrs. Eunice T. Gargaro died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Newport News, Va. She was 100.

She was born in Wiggins, Miss., on July 18, 1907, to John M. and Mary L. Weatherford. She was a resident of Vicksburg for more than 60 years and a retired nurse with the Vicksburg Hospital. She moved to Newport News in 1995.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Altar Society and Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Mrs. Gargaro was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Gargaro; and a brother, Wayne Hall Weatherford.

She is survived by two sons, John Louis Gargaro of Newport News and William Wayne Gargaro of Redondo Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren, Julie Anstatte, Marian Gargaro, Dianne Gargaro, John M. Gargaro, Juliet Millman and John L. Gargaro III; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7:30 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home and Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be John M. Gargaro, John L. Gargaro III, Jason L. Gargaro, James T. Hilbun Jr., Timothy J. Hilbun and Jesse A. Boyd Jr.

Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Lucille McGee Turpin

CHICAGO — Lucille McGee Turpin, formerly of Vicksburg, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Roseland Hospital in Chicago. She was 69.

Mrs. Turpin was preceded in death by a brother, Howard McGee.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Turpin and Cassanthea Turpin, both of Chicago; three sisters, Lillie McClendon, Ethel Carthans and Mattie Lee Bell; three brothers, Earl Short, Sam McGee and John McGee; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Emma McKenzie and Geraldine McGee of Vicksburg.

Arrangements are incomplete in Chicago.

Frances Dillard Wright

Frances Dillard Wright died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Promise Hospital. She was 88.

She was a member of New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church, where she was former treasurer and recording secretary. She retired from Vicksburg Laundry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garfield Wright Sr.; her parents, Alfred Sr. and Mary Dillard; two sons, Stanley Wright and Arthur Wright; one daughter, Mary Lloyd Jemison; three brothers, Alfred Dillard Jr., Alvin Dillard and Adolph Dillard; and two sisters, Lucille Williams and Rosalie Dillard.

Survivors include two sons, Garfield Wright Jr. of Vicksburg and James Wright of Dallas, Texas; four daughters, Dolores Hicks of Aurora, Ill., Patricia McDougal of Greenbelt, Md., Margaret Singleton of Oak Park, Ill., and Betty Wright Carter of Baton Rouge; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
