Ulysses C. Hardy
Services for Ulysses C. Hardy will be at 1 p.m Sunday at Williams Funeral Service, with Corine Palmer, evangelist, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Hardy died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan. He was 49.
Mr. Hardy was of the Baptist faith. He was formerly employed with Sheffield Rental of Vicksburg and Allied Moving Co. of Olathe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Hardy and Ikie Lee Scott Hardy; and a son, Ulysses C. Shelley.
Survivors include two brothers, James Jefferson and Walter Lee Hardy, both of Vicksburg; five sisters, Joyce Ann Smith, Lee Esther Hardy, Linda Fay Hardy, Debora Ann Hardy and Lisa Hardy, all of Vicksburg; three sons, Jeffery Shelley, Terrence Shelley and Shannon Shelley, all of Vicksburg; and two daughters, LaTonya Shelley and Kenyatta Foster, both of Vicksburg.
Martha Cooper Morrison
Martha Cooper “Twick” Morrison died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008.
Mrs. Morrison was born in Turner’s Station, Ky. She graduated from Blue Mountain College with a bachelor of arts degree and was later awarded the degree Honorary Doctor of Humanities. She received a master of arts degree in English from the University of Mississippi.
Mrs. Morrison, a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, was active in United Methodist Church work for 50 years on local, regional and national levels, serving in numerous leadership and teaching capacities at each level. Included, among many others, were serving as vice president of the Women’s Division, the policy-making board for one million United Methodist women; as a director of the General Board of Global Ministries, which administered the mission work of the United Methodist Church in more than 90 countries; and as Conference Lay Leader of the Mississippi Conference, coordinating the work of the laity across the state.
Mrs. Morrison participated in mission trips in Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Russia, Eastern Europe, Central America, South America and the Caribbean Basin.
She was a founding member of the Good Shepherd Community Center in Vicksburg and was recently named a recipient of the Livesay Service Award by Millsaps College.
Mrs. Morrison was predeceased by her parents, the Rev. Paul B. and Ann Kimbrough Cooper; and her brother, Paul B. Cooper Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert R. Morrison Jr.; her two sons and their wives, Paul Cooper and Frances Rone Morrison of Jackson and Robert R. III and Corin Coleman Morrison of Vicksburg; and seven grandchildren, Caroline Barry Morrison, Paul Cooper Morrison Jr,, Lee Rone Morrison, Helen Elizabeth Morrison, Erin Elizabeth Morrison, James Russell Morrison and Robert Coleman Morrison.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Crawford Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday and will be today from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service in Wesley Hall at Crawford Street United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Wade West, Briggs Hopson, Hugh Green, Russ Loflin, Bobby Fleming, John Boa, Joel Horton and Tommy Shelton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Betty Bexley, Joyce McPherson, Marjorie Neumann, Peggy Allen, Martha Ann Klaus, Lucy Jones, Martha West, Ridgely Bayley, Jerry Mahloch, Lauren Posey, Mary Kathryn Mann, Louise Hudson, George Edna Sherman, Ilma Williams, Carol Leggett, Beverly Rhymes, Dr. Hendrik Kuiper, Dr. Susan Chiarito, Bobby Bailess, Ed Jackson and the United Methodist Women and Shepherds.

Matthew L. Parker
Matthew L. Parker died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at River Region Medical Center.
He was the infant son of Matthew Nash and Felicia M. Parker, both of Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Magge Nash.
He is survived by two brothers, Reginald Sims and Jarquise Parker, both of Vicksburg; and grandparents, Flora Mae Parker and Walter Crumb, both of Vicksburg, and Eddie Lee Hicks of Dallas.
Services were Friday, with W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home in charge. Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Roy Wilson Jr.
SILVER SPRING, Md. — Roy Wilson Jr. died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, in Silver Spring, Md. He was 86.
Mr. Wilson was a 1939 graduate of Carr Central High School. He graduated from Mississippi State University and was a veteran of World War II.
He worked for 30 years for the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C., until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wilson; a daughter, Pam Wilson; two sisters, Augusta McNamara of Vicksburg and Frances Cooper of Greenville; and two granddaughters.
Services will be Tuesday in Silver Spring.
