Suspect surrenders in shooting on Wisconsin|[02/26/08]

A suspect in a Monday morning shooting of a Vicksburg man has been arrested, police said.
Darnell Davis, 34, 143 Demby Drive, surrendered to Vicksburg police at 9 this morning and was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault with a firearm. His bond was set at $50,000.
He’s accused of shooting James Quincy Davis, 31, 3032 Wisconsin Ave., who was taken to University Medical Center in Jackson after he was found by police in his driveway with gunshots in each leg. Davis was in good condition this morning, a hospital spokesman said.
According to police, Davis had returned home when he was robbed of $740 and a cell phone valued at $220. Police responded to the area at about 1:30 a.m. after a neighbor reported sounds of gunfire.
Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said Davis’ wife was home asleep at the time.
Nearly three hours later, at 4:12, a burglary was reported at the victim’s home, and a .22 caliber revolver and a $150 were reported stolen.
Also, the window to a vehicle parked in the driveway was broken, but nothing was taken.
City man charged with domestic violenceA Vicksburg man faces aggravated domestic violence charges after he was arrested by police Monday.
At 5 p.m., Vicksburg police picked up Craig Buchanan, 36, 522 Freetown Road, in the 900 block of Walnut Street. Buchanan, whose charges regard a Feb. 23 incident, was in the Warren County Jail this morning.
Fugitive still missing after Issaquena escapeAuthorities today were still searching for a Vicksburg man who escaped Saturday from the Issaquena County Jail.
Charles Raymond Johnson, 19, 1702 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., was being held for Vicksburg police on felony shoplifting charges. Johnson is described as 5-foot-7 and weighing about 140 pounds.
Arthur Lawler, chief of operations at the Issaquena County Jail, said Johnson was reported seen in Vicksburg the night of his escape.
Shoplifting charge lands woman in jailA third offense of shoplifting landed a Vicksburg woman in jail Monday, police said.
Juanita Sims, 42, 2121 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., was arrested at 11:50 a.m. at Family Dollar Store, 1305 Mission 66, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Sims, whose bond was set at $10,000, was in the Warren County Jail this morning.
Edwards man held in theft of vehicleAn Edwards man was arrested Monday and charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle.
Benard Mack, 40, 2921 Champion Hill, was arrested by Warren County Sheriff’s deputies at 2 p.m. at the Clinton Police Department.
Mack was being held without bond in the Warren County Jail this morning.
CD players, gun among missing itemsFour burglaries, two residential and two auto, were reported to Vicksburg police Monday and this morning.
At 10:41 a.m. Monday, a .32 caliber pistol was reported stolen from a home in the 900 block of Bowmar Avenue. The firearm was valued at $300. Lt. Bobby Stewart said entrance was gained through a window.
A residential burglary in the 3400 block of Washington Street was reported at 11:33 a.m. Monday. Stolen were various hand tools valued at $250.
An AM/FM CD player valued at $200 was reported stolen from a 1994 Honda Accord in the 1200 block of South Street. Police received the report at 4:50 At 3:42 a.m. today, an AM/FM CD player was reported stolen from a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban in the 1900 block of South Frontage Road. The stereo was valued at $250. Stewart said the burglars broke out a passenger side window to gain entrance.
