A Vicksburg man who escaped from the Issaquena County Jail during the weekend while he was being held for Vicksburg authorities was arrested Tuesday afternoon while “up to his old tricks” back in the city, police said.
Charles Raymond Johnson, 19, 1702 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., was picked up at Pemberton Square mall, 3505 Pemberton Square Blvd., trying to sell stolen video games to EB Games, Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
A store employee who was familiar with Johnson alerted police that he was in the store.
Johnson was arrested as he was leaving the mall.
Johnson had been held in the Issaquena County Jail for Vicksburg police on shoplifting charges.Arthur Lawler, chief of operations at the Issaquena County Jail, said Johnson made his escape Saturday during a visitation. Lawler gave no further information.
Suzan Ebeling, crime analyst for the Vicksburg Police Department, said this morning that Johnson will face escape charges in Issaquena County and he was returned to that county’s jail.
County man charged with theft from relativeA Warren County man has been charged with credit card fraud and grand larceny.
Bryan Barrentine, 23, was living with a relative at 45 Cazenovia Lane, said chief investigator Jay McKenzie of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
Barrentine was arrested after a Feb. 4 complaint from a relative who said somebody had charged items to the relative’s credit card. The relative complained of other items missing from the residence. Barrentine, who is charged with thefts of up to $629, was released from the Warren County Jail on his own recognizance.
Pistol reported missing at Magnolia CommonsA Hi-Point pistol was missing from a vehicle parked at Magnolia Commons Apartments, according to police reports.
The .380 caliber pistol was reported stolen from a Ford Escape at 1:56 p.m. Monday. The vehicle was parked in the 600 block of Magnolia Circle and showed no signs of forced entry, reports stated.

Four found guilty
Four convictions of driving under the influence were recorded in Warren County during the week that ended Tuesday.
Convicted in Warren County Justice Court of DUI first offense and fined $641.50 were:
Ira A. Ervin, 54, 733 Stenson Road.
Anita Raley, 40, 520 Berryman Road Lot 8.
Brian K. Toldson, 38, 3721 Inwood Drive, Harvey, La.
Convicted in Vicksburg Municipal Court of DUI second offense was Amos Demond Funches, 27, 230 Carmichael St., Utica. He was fined $931.
