Vicksburg man shot in leg outside Waffle House|[03/24/08]

A man was shot outside the East Clay Street Waffle House early this morning, according to Vicksburg Police reports.

Larry Floyd, 31, 141 Morning View Drive, was struck in the calf after leaving his car at close to 2 a.m., Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said bullets also hit the Waffle House.

Stewart said Floyd offered no reason for the shooting.

He was treated and released from River Region Medical Center, spokesman Diane Gawronski said.

Stewart said police had no suspects.

Two injured Saturday out of hospital

Two people injured in Saturday’s wreck on U.S. 61 North and North Washington Street have been released from River Region Medical Center.

Shelby Etheridge, 17, of Yazoo City, and Lance Burton, no age available, of Gowall Road, were injured when their Toyota sedan collided with a Chevrolet Silverado at around 8 p.m.

City woman charged in check scam at bank

A woman was arrested at Regions Bank Friday and charged with trying to pass stolen checks.

Brandi Jones, 23, 535 Hall Road, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. at the bank’s branch at 3405 Halls Ferry Road. She was in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility this morning, being held on a $12,000 bond, said Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart.

Vehicles, AC, DVDs taken during weekend

Two vehicles were among items reported stolen in Vicksburg during the weekend.

A black 2001 Chevrolet S-10 was taken from where it was parked in the 1300 block of Clay Street. No license plate information was available. The theft was reported to Vicksburg Police at 4:20 p.m. Sunday.

A white 2005 Chevrolet Impala parked in the 1900 block of Washington Street was reported missing at 2:50 a.m. The car was valued at $17,000.

A 5-ton air conditioning unit was reported stolen at 10 a.m. Saturday from a home in the 3100 block of Laughlin Street.

A DVD player, DVDs and a microwave valued together at $300 were reported stolen in a residential burglary in the 400 block of Lake Hill Drive.
