City man arrested for firearm at prom|[03/31/08]

A Vicksburg man was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with possessing a firearm at Vicksburg High School’s prom and for shooting into a local business a week ago, police said.
Cordarryl Gleese, 21, 808 Patton St., was arrested at 12:55 a.m. at Vicksburg Auditorium, 901 Monroe St., and charged with possessing of a firearm on school property, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said. Stewart explained that the building was considered school property since Vicksburg High School’s prom was taking place at the building when Gleese was arrested.
Police also linked Gleese to a March 21 drive-by shooting at the East Clay Street Waffle House.
In that shooting, Larry Floyd, 31, 141 Morning View Road, was struck in the calf after leaving his car at about 2 a.m. Floyd was taken to River Region Medical Center, where he was treated and released that morning. Stewart said bullets also hit the restaurant.
For the shooting, Glesse was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of drive-by shooting and one count of shooing into a business. He was being held without bond in the Warren County Jail this morning.
Vicksburg man accused of statutory rapeA Vicksburg man accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl was arrested Saturday night, police said.
At 11:34, Jesse Sanders, 18, 124 Meadowbrook Drive, was arrested at his home and charged with statutory rape, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Sanders was being held without bond in the Warren County Jail this morning.
Prescription forgery leads to woman’s arrestA Vicksburg woman faces prescription forgery charges after she was arrested Friday afternoon, police said.
At 3:40, Teresa Duane, 42, 207 Red Hawk Road, surrendered at the Vicksburg Police Department and was charged for a forgery reported Tuesday at Wal-Mart SuperCenter, 2150 Iowa Blvd.
She was released from jail this weekend after posting a $2,500 bond.
Gun, cash, jewelry among items missingDiesel fuel, jewelry, electronics, cash and a firearm were reported stolen in three weekend burglaries in the city and county.
At 10:52 a.m. Friday, the Warren County Sheriff’s Department received a report of 250 gallons of diesel being stolen from a farm on Mississippi 3. The listed value of the missing fuel was $862.50.A residential burglary in the 200 block of Greenbriar Road was reported to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department at 3:57 p.m. Friday. Reported missing were seven football jerseys, three pairs of tennis shoes, a digital camera, four rings, a necklace, a portable DVD player, a PlayStation, two PlayStation games, a laptop computer, $600 and a sandwich bag containing half-dollar and gold-dollar coins. Reports said entrance was gained by kicking in a back door to the house.At 2 p.m. Saturday, an auto burglary at Mission 66 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was reported to Vicksburg police. Missing from the 1998 Toyota Avalon was a Jimenez .25 caliber revolver valued at $180.
18-wheeler carrying cars burns on I-20An 18-wheeler hauling vehicles burst into flames late Saturday night, shutting down part of Interstate 20 West, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Pace said the truck was near the Flowers exit and the driver pulled the vehicle to the side of the road. No one was reported injured, but Pace said a couple of the vehicles on the truck’s trailer were burned. Pace said both lanes of traffic had to be closed while flames were extinguished.
Mississippi Highway Patrol, who was in charge of the scene, could not be reached for further details.
