Hubert Butler Sr.
Hubert “Dutte” Butler Sr. died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 83.
Mr. Butler was a native of Vicksburg and had retired from Houston Brothers Lumber Mill. He was a member of St. Mark M.B. Church and was a World War II veteran of the Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Butler and Lubertha Carter; a daughter, Gleneva Butler; and a sister, Lubertha Carter.
Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Alberta Starks Butler of Vicksburg; three sons, Hubert Butler Jr., Charles Butler and James Henry Butler, all of Vicksburg; five daughters, Louise Butler of New York, Irene Butler of Kansas City, Mo., and Ideena Butler, Darlene Butler and Christine Butler, all of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Belle Hughes
Belle Hughes died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 94.
Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Hughes was the daughter of the late T. H. “Harry” Klein and Ethel Haralson Klein. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert M. Hughes; one brother and two sisters.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by a daughter, Laurin H. Hines of Laredo, Texas; three sons, Hubert M. Hughes Jr. of Anna, Texas, Wayne F. Hughes of Mobile, Ala., and James T. “Tommy” Hughes of Vicksburg; a sister, Marion K. Larue of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon Monday until the hour of the service.
Mrs. Hughes’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
