Flood evacuees report two weekend burglaries|[04/14/08]

Five burglaries, including two that apparently affected flood victims, were reported in the county this weekend.Necklaces, rings, a trolling motor and a window air-conditioning unit were reported stolen from a home in the 500 block of Lake Shore Drive, where floodwaters have inundated much of the Chickasaw area. The report, which was received by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department at 12:24 p.m. Sunday, said the burglary occurred between April 6 and 12.At 1:41 p.m. Friday, thousands of dollars in welding equipment was reported stolen from a trailer in the 4900 block of U.S. 61 North. According to the report, the owner lives in a flooded area and had moved to the U.S. 61 North address. Reported stolen were 1,000 feet of extension cord, 550 feet of welding leads, 25 feet of MIG welding leads, a 1/2-inch impact wrench, a 25-foot ground wire and leather welding jackets. The total value was $5,300.A firearm was reported stolen from the glove compartment of a vehicle. The report said the Glock .357 was taken between March 31 and April 11, but the victim didn’t know where the vehicle was parked at the time. The burglary was reported at 7:45 p.m. Friday.At 4:27 p.m. Saturday, a residential burglary in the 100 block of Redhawk Road was reported. Reported missing was a Max Power red and black saw with a 7 1/4-inch blade. The saw was valued at $50.A Red Huskey floor jack valued at $50 was reported stolen from a garage in the 1300 block of Lake Side Drive. According to reports, the burglary occurred between 6 p.m. on Saturday and noon Sunday.
