Douglas D. Carson

Douglas D. Carson died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 47.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly G. Carson of Vicksburg; three sons, Deric Gibbs of Texas and Dexter Carson and Desmond Carson, both of Vicksburg; and a granddaughter, Zyderica Gibbs of Vicksburg.

Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica is in charge of arrangements.

Geraldine C. Moore

YAZOO CITY — Geraldine C. “Jerry” C. Moore, 91, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Martha Coker Convalescent Home in Yazoo City.

Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and attended Ellison United Methodist Church. She was also a member of United Methodist Women and volunteered at Methodist Rehabilitation Center in Jackson for more than 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harrison Moore; and her parents, Claude Coleman and Perl Rivers Gulledge.

She is survived by four sons, James Moore, William Coleman Moore, John Wilson Moore and Larry Pace Moore, all of Vaughan; three daughters, Mabel Rivers Smith of Belzoni, Mary Agnes Westbrook of Vicksburg and Joan Elizabeth Pepper of Quitman; two sisters, Gladys Pickett of Richmond, Va., and Lela Smith of Houston; 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City. The funeral will be Monday at Ellison United Methodist Church in Vaughan with the Revs. Ken Anderson and Grady Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Ellison Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ellison Building Fund, 1860 Bennett Road, Vaughan, MS 39179.
