Marcus Christopher Broome
BOLTON – Marcus Christopher “Mark” Broome died Saturday, May 3, 2008, as the result of an industrial accident at International Paper Co. in Redwood. He was 28.
A Jackson native, Mr. Broome spent most of his life in Hinds County. He lived in Vicksburg for six years before moving to the Bolton area.
He was a member of No. 114 Insulators Union.
He is survived by his wife, Brooke Neagle Broome of Bolton; twin daughters, Madison and Olivia Broome of Bolton; his mother, Mary S. Broome of Vicksburg; his father, Michael Broome of Bolton; a brother, Steven Ashley of Bolton; and a sister, Tracey Graves of Terry.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Edwards with the Revs. Glen Moore and Tom Shreve officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
Pallbearers will be Chris Hubbard, Chase Hambright, Keith Hall, Evan Fouquet, Steven Ashley, Dustin Stiles, Ryan Miller and Tony Ainsworth.
J.W. StaggJ.W. Stagg died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 47.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Stagg was the son of the late Thomas and Geneva Tanner Engram. He graduated from Riverside High School in Greenville.
He was a self-employed mechanic for a number of years and motorcycle rider.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Shiers Stagg; two daughters, Kimberly Stagg and Misty Stagg, both of Vicksburg; three sons, James Smith, J.W. “Bud” Smith and Mark Stagg, all of Vicksburg; and two brothers, Steve Engram of Vicksburg and Mark Engram of Philadelphia, Miss.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Vicksburg Gospel Church, Redbone Road, with Mike Boen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at the church.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Kackley, Josh Kackley, Red Deason, Raymond Elledge, Zane Bearrick and William Brister.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bozo Mondolini, Patrick Emerson, Danny Barnes, Richard Dean, Jack Sanders, James “Jumpy” Engram, Jacob Engram and motorcycle riders.
Jessie Carla Ruth Stewart
PORT GIBSON – Jessie Carla Ruth Stewart died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at her home in Port Gibson. She was 88.
A native of Veijle, Denmark, Mrs. Stewart had lived in the United States for the past 81 years and was a Port Gibson resident for the last six years. She served in the Women’s Army Corps in England and Belgium in World War II.
She was a member of Irondale United Methodist Church in Irondale, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Stewart, in 1986.
Survivors include one son, John C. Stewart Jr. of Central City, Ky.; one daughter, Rose Ann Davis of Port Gibson; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Fred Parker officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Magnolia Cemetery in Coldwater.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until the service.
Pallbearers will be Zack Davis, Sam Davis, Todd Benton, Matt Cahill, David Grandville and Vance McGee.
Mary Lee Wood
TALLULAH – Mary Lee Wood died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. She was 87.
Born in Crowville, La., Mrs. Wood had lived in Tallulah for 30 years. She was a housewife and member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by four brothers, Johnny Graham and Melvin Graham, both of Monroe, Leo Graham of Las Vegas and Cecil Graham of Calhoun, La.; two sisters, Ida Wood of Monroe and Joyce Hicks of West Monroe; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.
